Responsibilities

1.The intern will support UNIC staff in implementing UN campaigns and events for the duration of the internship.

2.Support the UNIC team in generating content for the website and social media platforms.

3.Conduct research and background work for events and campaigns

4.Provide organizing and logistical support for events.

5.Assist the UNIC / UNRC joint communication team with events and campaigns.

6.Other daily responsibilities based on the needs and the individual’s background.

Communication :

  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication of policy issues;
  • Listens to others, correctly interprets messages and responds appropriately;
  • Asks questions for clarification and exhibits interest in having two-way communication;
  • Demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
  • Ability to design communications materials and promote on-line, especially for websites and social media.
  • Teamwork :

  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals;
  • Solicits input by genuinely valuing others’ ideas and expertise;
  • Willing to learn from others; places office agenda before personal agenda
  • Client Orientation :

  • Knowledge in environmental and sustainability issues and communications especially in web site management and social media;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and deliver tasks effectively and on time.
  • Education

    Applicants must at the time of application meet each of the following requirements :

  • a.He / she must be a student in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s programme, or have you completed a degree and are able to commence an internship within a year of graduation;
  • b.Be computer literate in standard software application;
  • c.Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

    d.Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing

    Work Experience

    Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is desirable.

    Languages

    English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required.

    Knowledge of another UN Language or an Asian language is desirable.

    United Nations Considerations

    Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
