The Sr. EDI Technical Specialist works closely with merchants, business analysts, various other departments, customers and vendors in electronic communication of purchase order, advance ship notice, invoice, product activity and other business transaction data for Voice Caption Center.
This position will have overall responsibility for EDI map and integration including production support and new project design and documentation.
This position will ensure current EDI maps are accurately in sync with our vendor and customer specifications. This position is responsible for managing the associated risks involved with inaccurate EDI mapping and technical documentation.
The Senior EDI Technical Specialist position builds strong cross-functional and collaborative relationships with business customers, vendors and internal IT partners to fully understand their strategies and needs.
This position is exposed to and must understand the processes used by multiple teams within Voice Caption Center for successful EDI process, product and service delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Understand AAP business drivers, processes and team functions as they impact EDI and the business in general
Ability to cultivate relationships across functions in order to achieve business objectives.
Verbal and written communication with trading partners (customers and vendors)
Provides significant input to management on strategic and tactical EDI planning, and implementation of initiatives including automation of processes for alerting internal teams and trade partners of failed documents
Creates and automates scheduled processes
Manage daily EDI technical and level two support activities
Anticipate and solve problems related to EDI maps and projects
Leads development, testing and deployment of EDI maps and specification documents
Drives new map, system, and process implementation using the traditional EDI standards and XML-based Web solutions
Works directly with trading partners and business teams in the evaluation, design, development, and implementation of EDI / e-commerce solutions
Leads and participates in project teams to provide input regarding EDI / e-commerce solutions
Determines whether existing EDI maps, processes, and programs will be used or new development is required
Configure & test TP profiles and connections with new EDI trading partners with direct connection in SI and with VANs
Develop and review EDI transaction specifications for accuracy and clarity
Design, develop and test new EDI Transaction maps
Act as a technical consultant for the trading partners
dentify opportunities on integration of EDI systems with business systems
Provides insight into EDI operation for the IT Systems Analysts
Provide reconciliation reports across multiple systems for analysis by support team
Design, create and run or schedule reports on performance and TP activity
Educate associates on EDI processes, requirements, capabilities and integration points
Research, log and spot EDI error trends and address with support team
Drive new process implementation to increase operational efficiencies

Seven years of experience in EDI data analysis and map design
Expert ability to produce and document X12, flat file, and XML transaction structure
Advanced proficiency in Spec Builder, Microsoft Office Software required, as is the ability to quickly learn and use job specific computer applications
Excellent customer service skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information and write business correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, vendors and / or team members

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor?s degree; and 7+ years EDI technical work experience, including minimum 3 years automotive parts or retail experience;
or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have 5+ years? experience on the Sterling Integrator(SI) and BPML tools including mapping, profile setup, connection configuration and processes automation
Must have 3+ years Spec Builder experience
Must have 5+ EDI X12 mapping and support experience
Must have 5+ years XML transformation experience
