Location : Pune
The role is for Java Designer for Barclaycard Payment Solutions(BPS) projects.
The person will be responsible for designing and providing guidance in developing applications across business including UK cards, Barclaycard Business solutions including GCP and GPA.
Person will work on single complex projects or multiple small projects.
Collaborating with Architects, PMs and developers as well as support & Infrastructure teams during and for the Design and development of the software components within the project scope, ensuring quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness in order to support the high performance delivery of change projects.
What will you be doing?
Implementation of Architecture Definition - contributing to the definition and documentation of implementation level architectures.
Identifying issues with existing implementation level architectures and follows appropriate procedures for resolution.
Delivery Management Support - consisting with the creation, monitoring and reporting of progress against project plans and identifying corrective action where necessary.
Providing input into risk analyses and development plans to take account of design decisions. Assisting the delivery manager in both understanding the status of the activities being undertaken by any suppliers to the project, and in identifying delivery progress threats.
Organisational Support - actively promotes and drives the implementation of Application Delivery strategy and policies, making recommendations to improve procedures and working practices.
Has accountability for, and drives, the implementation of operational objectives for team
Sharing knowledge with colleagues both proactively and on demand.
Identifying development needs of junior team members.
Taking proactive steps to maintain skills in relevant areas, and continuously broadening knowledge of systems and technologies used within Barclays Group
Supplier Support and Supplier Management
Providing support to suppliers with respect to :
As part of the delivery of business change, the Java Designer will lead and coach a team (where required) of Platform Designers / Sr. developers to :
Provide support to business design and business analysis functions on projects
Oversee the delivery of pragmatic business and operational design solutions which maximize benefits while achieving the desired business outcomes
Assess and design new business change processes, systems, products and services on a change project Plan Change. Ensure all governance, risk management, controls and compliance requirements are considered during development of requirements and designs
What we’re looking for :
Must have experience of working in an IT project environment and an understanding of IT and business strategies. Experience gained from outside the Bank can be very valuable particularly large organisations and / or suppliers or manufacturers.
The jobholder should be proficient in tools, techniques and services relevant to their knowledge area, with a broad awareness of those used throughout other areas.
Should have a detailed understanding of the information technology services provided and a broad knowledge of Barclays Group products and services and understand how they all fit together.
Ability to work with an existing body of code (maintenance, feature additions, debugging, etc) and process Focused and make less dependent structures
Strong experience in producing Design and POCs and able to define the framework
Strong logical reasoning, problem solving and performance tuning Skills
Strong experience of developing applications using Java 7 / 8 / JEE
Strong experience using Spring 3 / 4 (including knowledge across Core Spring Framework, and if possible Spring Boot)
Strong webservice development experience using REST / SOAP
Strong technical knowledge of Hibernate / JPA
Strong understanding of OO Designing and Programming Techniques and associated concepts, Data Modeling, Design Patterns
Strong understanding of TDD with extensive experience of automated unit testing (e.g. JUnit) using mock object frameworks.
Knowledge of App Servers like WAS, JBoss.
Knowledge of SQL, Major RDBMS (e.g. Oracle)
Knowledge of SCM tools like GIT / Perforce
IDE - RAD / Eclipse, IntelliJ
Knowledge of tools like SonarQube, Jenkins, Jprofiler, Maven, Gradle etc
Knowledge of DevOps and continuous integration
Skills that will help you in the role :
BE, MCA or equivalent
Beneficial skills would be knowledge around Event Driven Architecture & Domain Driven Design
