Director Banking Operations and Technology We have been retained by our client, a reputed Foreign Bank to identify a Director Banking Operations and Technology to be based at Mumbai.

JOB PURPOSE To lead, organize, manage and provide strategic direction to the Operations, Information Technology and Administration functions with a view to create competitive advantage for the bank in the industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES Banking Operations Organisation and control of the entire Operations department relating to Trade Finance, Loans, Payments, Remittances, Treasury for centralised BO functions.

Review of work allocation and training of staff within the department. To ensure standardisation of procedures. Regular job rotation of the all the Operations staff.

Authorisation of all funded / non-funded transactions of the department within the credit limits approved and as per the Internal Authorisation matrix.

Ensure compliance with Exchange control / Exim policy / Reserve Bank of India / FEDAI / IBA / FIMMDA and other regulations / guidelines.

Control and ensure timely submission of all reports to regulators / Statutory authorities / H.O. / Management / others as applicable Daily monitoring of Exception, Back valuation and other important reports and organise rectification of anomalies observed.

Review the monthly work in progress reports. Ensure timely and proper permanent supervision within the department of all sensitive procedures / accounts Ensure compliance with the KYC / AML procedures for all accounts per group norms (with specific needs per business line).

Provide clarifications / guidance to colleagues / clients on Indian regulations. Operational risk - Overall review and compliance of Operational Risk aspects for the department as defined by the ORM Co-ordination with BPO to ensure smooth functioning of all the transactions which are outsourced.

  • Regular review and update of the Operations Procedure Manual Co-ordination with all departments for smooth functioning of daily Operations Represent the Operations Department in all forums as and when required Assist in Implementation of New Projects of the bank Assist in analysing the operational requirements for New Products by participating in the New Products Committee (NPC) process Distribution of inward mail Review of Swift messages file Training and grooming the entire operations staff especially those reporting on various procedures, internal and external regulations, rules and guidelines Assist Heads of Departments in devising effective recovery procedures Organising the annual BCP test drill;
  • assist in regional and global test drills Perform Business Impact Analysis in line with Head Office templates and methodology Maintain the BCP database, in particular contacts lists and call tree Participate in Regional projects aiming and enhancing BCM set-up Operational Risk related projects assigned by local management Contribution to the Regional Operational Risk reporting and projects Implementation of actions requiring the input of the Operational Risks Managers of the regional departments.

    Technology To understand local business strategy, plans and formulate roadmap in terms of new IT initiatives. Ensuring compliance of local and Head office regulations, monitoring SLA, IT performance, support review etc.

    Establish and maintain a good relationship with business partners locally and regionally. Work closely with CFO for Budgeting.

    Project Management for various application development & infrastructure related projects and to provide production support for such infrastructure and applications.

    To work closely with operational risk and cyber security department for any projects. Responsible for management of application and infrastructure related issues o Production environment Support, user request tracking, action plan follow-up o Escalation process (Incident Management, Crisis Management Outages) o Problem Management o Change & release Management o Capacity management (along with the stream leaders) o Security / Infrastructure Legacy management o Asset management Inventory and reconciliation o Local License management o Maintenance & Contract management Ensure process are properly documented and followed according to the banks guidelines To ensure all Audit points are closed on time.

    To ensure all Permanent Supervision controls are performed on time. To ensure the customers (internal / external) requests are treated on time.

    DESIRED SKILLS Highly conversant with technology & operating processes. Strong communication skills both spoken as well as written.

    Strong analytical approach to problem solving. Should be detail conscious whilst maintaining strategic outlook. Excellent management skills.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE Candidates should be CAs or MBAs with 15 to 20 years relevant experience in operations & technology in Banking sector only.
