Costain were appointed by Highways England to deliver two of the three sections of the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon Improvement Scheme as part of a Joint Venture (JV).
The JV will complete two packages totalling circa £600 million of work. The A14 Improvement Scheme is required to enhance the capacity and reliability of the UK strategic road network in order to ensure better journeys for road users.
Stretching over 25 miles, the works will improve this highly congested stretch of road. Initial design work will commence immediately with the development of detailed plans for the delivery phase, which commenced late 2016.
The road will be open to traffic in 2020, with the works in Huntingdon town being completed after.

Set up & maintain completion packages Green Files for all elements of the works. Be proactive and working with construction staff to ensure records are produced in line with the ITP’s.
Carry out internal spot audits, produce reports & follow up agreed actions Help train production staff on requirements for producing records Ensure the provision and review of Quality related documentation.
Clear and regular reporting on the status of construction records to Quality Manager and Senior Management Ensure review & submission of Red Line Drawings is carried out to the agreed process Maintain Green File & As Built Drawing Trackers Attend Document Package Managers 2 Weekly Meeting & provided factual data to the Lead Document Package Manager.
Where required attend any other meeting deemed necessary by the section lead Communicate with all levels of the construction team to assist in record keeping Liaise with Sub-
Contractors to ensure they supply the required documentation for their works in a timely manner Promote quality culture and awareness Support the Quality Manager on all quality matters including delivery of quality assurance for the works.
