Position Purpose :

The Global Category Manager (GCM) HSE exists in the category-aligned REFS procurement team, and leads the delivery of productivity & efficiency as part of the Category Plan.

The focus of the role is on defining category strategy for HSE in line with business objectives in coordination with the Head of Pro-

curement Utilities, Real Estate & Facility Services (REFS), Global Technical Services (GTS) and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) teams.

Activities include business partnering on the appropriate level with REFS, GTS & HSE, leading of local, regional and global projects, requirements gathering, market analy-

sis, qualifying, leading RFP processes and selecting suppliers with the relevant Business Part-ners / Stakeholders. In accordance with the approved strategy of integrating 3rd party expertise to drive procurement value through fundamental business and market analysis, work with the Head of Procure-

ment Utilities and regional teams to identify potential markets, establish functional teams and implement effective supply models as appropriate.

Drive best practices sharing across regions and other NGSC supporting teams that interact with assigned category. Provide guidance about global and regional category strategies to local country procurement organizations and NGSC tactical support teams in order to ensure proper implementation and delivery on targeted values.

Major Accountabilities :

  • Responsible for providing input to Head of Procurement Utilities, REFS, GTS and HSE, as requested, to inform the top-down target setting process and delivery of category and sub-category savings targets
  • Responsible for supporting the matrix organization approach by helping other REFS categories by taking over project responsibilities when needed and based on the Category Strategies and business activities
  • Responsible for refining scope of activity, including the establishment of robust spend baselines and change control process to enable delivery in line with the top down target
  • Aligned with Head of Procurement Utilities, work to establish effective communications with key business leaders. Develop advocacy for positive category outcomes including establishing common goals and objectives
  • Responsible for collection of supplier, market, category, internal business data, and internal stakeholder information.
  • Retain and effectively engage 3rd party expertise as applicable

  • Responsible for ensuring category delivery is aligned to the long-term category strategy, business needs and priorities, and any category related policies
  • Responsible for leading proactive sourcing for the category.
  • Responsible for the creation, application, completion, and review of major contracts for the category and working with business in defining / refining KPIs and SLAs
  • Responsible for planning category projects to inform the Annual Category Plan
  • Provide input for supplier segmentation analysis as applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring that any supplier performance risks and issues are resolved on a timely basis and to business stakeholder satisfaction
  • Responsible for providing supplier performance information to REFS, GTS, HSE, REFS SP&I Manager and the Head of Procurement Utilities
  • Accountable for monitoring category compliance and adherence to Novartis Procurement policies and procedures
  • Responsible for driving the identification and management of category risks and issues in a timely manner through key functional team members (e.
  • g. legal, IT, HR, finance, HSE, Quality)

  • Create a robust category portfolio tracking methodology / tool in order to manage, prioritize and adjust the category’s management of projects either underway or in the planning stages
  • Establish and maintain strong business partnerships to ensure clear understanding of business requirements and performance concerns
  • Minimum requirements

    Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field (Engineering).

    CIPS or similar profession. Fluent in English German (desirable) 3-5 year experience in : -Facilities Management & Construction Services Category Management, or -

    Having worked in a global Corporate Facilities Management or Construction & HSE Services companies, focusing on HSE related categories -

    Extensive experience in project management, supplier management, demand management, and negotiating for HSE related categories (e.g. waste & remediation)
