Introduction :

Mainframe batch Tester working in Mainframe Applications Testing team to provide technical support and testing of change to the Banks IBM Mainframe systems (online and batch).

Other tasks include incident Resolution via Service management tool and Disaster Recovery activities.

What will you be doing?

  • Acts as a contact point for technical queries relating to certain application services including estimating, advice and guidance.
  • Advises and complete application services related tasks and provide technical explanations of findings.
  • Provides assistance to colleagues while working on projects requiring Infrastructure support.
  • Provides comprehensive technical verbal updates of project status to team and produce non-technical written updates for project managers and business.
  • Represents Mainframe area at project meetings and provide any inputs to help plan projects.
  • Communication skills are essential to ensure team are kept fully up to date with any on-going incidents which could affect service
  • Use own initiative to make decisions on how best resolve incidents and / or problems to mitigate impact on service.
  • In addition to communicating to the team, there may be a requirement to provide updates to a non-technical audience so the ability to adapt communication style based on audience is critical.
  • Able to work as a consultant for all change implementation processes, challenges other colleagues’ changes by sharing personal experience.
  • Clearly identifies the risk and impact if the change goes wrong. Plans and leads major implementations.

  • Runs and contributes to SME technical forums outside organisation. Fully understands the platform and often suggests ideas on how infrastructure design can help to positively drive the Bank's financial state.
  • Has significant latitude for influencing key internal and external stakeholders' decisions.

    What we’re looking for :

  • Have good knowledge of COBOL, DB2,VSAM, IMS ,CICS,REXX,JCL,DB2 PLATINUM,TWS (8-10 years experience)
  • Has expert knowledge of REXX.
  • Has Expert knowledge of the TWS scheduling tool and JCL ( Job control language).
  • Having prior experience on Test environment support.
  • Analytical ability including root cause identification and pro-active service improvement
  • Proactive identification of possible major incidents. Provide s the governance, technical authority, leadership and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues.
  • Subject matter expert in one or more key area and can represent the whole of the Infrastructure Component to a wider audience.
  • Can act as a contact person for the area for new high scope infrastructural changes.

  • Provides direction for technology within specialist area. Demonstrates broad-based view of business issues and activities.
  • Demonstrates excellent influencing skills to input into the platform strategy for Barclays.

  • Outstanding problem diagnosis through the use of analytical skills.
