About the role

The candidate will be expected to manage credit risk in identified portfolio(s), focusing on key credit metrics from a single obligor and portfolio perspective.

Additionally, the candidate will be required to develop a strong understanding of financial risk calculations associated with key insurance products, and effectively and consistently communicate the methodology to the business units.

Responsibilities will include the periodic reviews of selected obligors with a responsibility to propose internal ratings and associated credit limits, day-to-day management of reporting of key risks (& trends) to senior management for certain products and contribute to the advancement of strategic initiatives identified by the Head of Credit Risk Insurance, Credit Risk Management and Financial Risk Management.

The candidate will assess and recommend risk appetite for structured transactions on a timely basis, mentor more junior members of the team and complete tasks with a reasonable amount of independence and according to milestones outlined by senior members of the team.

The role will require an effective relationship to be established with key business unit personnel as well as other risk management groups.

About the team

The candidate will be a member of the Credit Risk Management team within Swiss Re Group's Financial Risk Management Department and be responsible for credit risk management associated with a portfolio of global insurance names.

To be domiciled in Bangalore, the role requires the ability to effectively communicate with members of the Financial Risk Management team and business units globally, notably in London, Zurich and Armonk.

The position will work with other members of the Credit Risk Management Group to actively identify, review, monitor and manage credit risk associated with a suite of traditional products across global (re)insurers, as well as risks associated with structured transactions and related insurance products as necessary.

About You

  • University degree with at least 3-5 years of work experience in credit risk or risk management.
  • Experience across two of the following risk categories : (Financial Market & Credit); (Life & Health); (Property & Casualty).
  • IT advanced skills and knowledge with Microsoft suite (inc excel, power point and data storeage / management).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial analysis of insurers a strong benefit.
  • Willing to take responsibility immediately, open minded and open for change in a dynamic environment. Well-organized and proven first experience in project management / leading initiatives from concept phase to implementation.
  • Flexible for occasional travel as necessary.
  • The successful candidate will be a critical thinker, team player, fast learner, innovative and exhibit a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken English, is a must.
