Position Overview :
We are searching for a hands-on experienced lead for our quantitative visualization team. The individual will manage a team of quantitative visualization engineers, well versed in developing engaging user interface for scientific software.
The lead ensures the coherence of the visualization contributions his / her team owns, establishes a framework of engagement with the other teams within the MSCI Analytics Platform group, primarily the Quantitative developers and engage with the Product Management community to market analytics visualization appropriately.
The analytics visualization team is on the forefront of client engagement, and constantly seeks to improve the user experience.
The complexity of the analytics clients interact with requires an acute understanding of what clients are intending to solve using MSCI products.
Being able to translate client use case into actionable workflows on MSCI analytics platform user interface is at the base of the mission of the Quantitative Visualization engineering team, critical to client engagement, and ultimately commercial success.
Scope of Responsibility :
The lead is expected to have a significant recent hands-on development experience. He / she will be responsible for the quality of his / her team deliveries, from stability and performance standpoint.
The quantitative visualization engineer team owns the development of a market place of analytics visualization capabilities that are operated in the MSCI analytics platform.
Its leader is therefore expected to be a technical expert that can coach the visualizations developer and validate their technical contributions.
Partnership between quantitative, framework and visualization developers, is critical to delivering the full value of analytics development.
Along with the Quantitative developer team lead, the Quantitative Visualization development lead ensures the dynamics of this collaboration is fruitful.
This position is optimal for individuals effective at operating cross functionally and with geographically distributed teams.
As the resulting product of the visualization team gets directly exposed to clients, the attention to details and quality is of paramount importance.
Only candidates with strong commitment to test driven development will be considered. Ultimately the Quantitative Visualization engineer owns the delivery of visualization components to production environment and shall be in position to support his / her product.
Specific Knowledge and skills :
Advance HTML5 / CSS3 development skills, with proven production grade deliveries
Good analytical skills are a must (algorithms, data structures, and statistics)
Experience in managing a team of developers operating in a globalized work environment is required
Proven experience with back-end development is a plus. Particularly with object oriented and / or functional languages (Java, Scala)
Committed test-driven / quality oriented SDLC proven experience
Experience in building software for demanding client community is a must
Experience developing for mobile visualization context is valued
Adaptability to change in programming languages and technologies
Attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture and achieve the proper balance between 100% accuracy and timeliness
Speaks and writes clearly and effectively in English
Desired Experience :
10 years of solid UI software for client facing production grade development experience
Development experience of quantitative software from within the financial industry would be a strong plus
Desired Qualifications :
Advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
