Summary We are currently looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Bangalore Centre to provide the technical expertise to take on major projects and also manage a team of engineers, leads etc.
You not only optimize your own work but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Sr. Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team.
The position’s purpose includes, but is not limited to :
Manage a team of Developers and provide technical direction and manage project timelines, cost and quality
Efficiently and effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical internal team members as well as third party client stakeholders.
As needed, gather requirements and analyze, understand and translate those requirements into technical specifications.
Participate in design reviews and provide input to design recommendations where necessary.
Participate in code reviews and acceptance process in order to improve methodology and delivery. Setting goals, performance reviews, coaching, training needs, hiring Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and people leadership to the team
Supports initiatives of Epsilon Auto related to engineering excellence, employee development, customer engagement etc.
Perform from leadership role for engineering
Advising and mentoring staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational challenges.
Leading product teams working on high data volume applications
Lead projects consisting of different teams to deliver engineering solutions from Technical and Project Management aspects
Responsible for mapping business objectives to an optimum engineering structure, including correct estimation of resource allocation.
Responsible for key technical and product decisions. Provide direction and mentorship to the team. Setup best practices for engineering.
Work closely with the Product Manager and help them in getting relevant inputs from the engineering team.
Plan and track the development and release schedules, proactively assess and mitigate risks. Prepare for contingencies and provide visible leadership in crisis.
Work closely with engineers, conduct their 1 : 1s, understand their requirements and facilitate an environment where each engineer is happy and productive.
Work individually with engineers and help them with correct time estimation and scoping of tasks.
Understand the strengths and weaknesses of various engineers, and then map projects to career paths of various engineers.
Conduct regular 1 : 1s for performance feedback and lead their appraisals.
Responsible for driving good coding practices in the team like good quality code, documentation, timely bug fixing etc.
Be responsible for product metrics and drive them in the team.
Interact with other engineering teams, facilitate discussion among them and provide a framework for inter-team collaboration.
Build teams, hire the best talent with right dynamics. Foster a result oriented, performance driven culture by setting clear goals, career paths, core competencies, reward and recognition mechanism for the engineering team.
Create and maintain an open and transparent environment that values speed and innovation, motivate engineers to build innovative and effective systems rapidly.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
12+ years of experience
Education : BE / B.Tech / MCA (No correspondence course)
BE / B.Tech / MCA from an education institution of repute
Must have worked with globally distributed teams.
Exceptional engineering & design focused business judgment.
Excellent skills in Oracle database, SQL and PL / SQL programming, message bus architecture
Must be results-driven and have a strong bottom-line orientation.
Accomplish results through direct reports, colleagues in other parts of Epsilon, and partners, even when they are not direct reports.
Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones.
Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Epsilon and outside.
Strategic thinking and execution must be able to develop comprehensive India intelligence / knowledge, and communicate with Epsilon Engineering and Technology organizations, identify capacity / capability to perform current and projected engineering work statement, conduct on-site evaluations and assessments regarding their ability to perform these activities.
Communication strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work.
Must be fluent in English, and have expertise in using MS Office tools.
Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
Must be able to mentor team members and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.
Must be able to discuss technical aspects of architecture / design / code issues directly with technical teams.
Must be have experience in planning, analyzing requirements, designing solutions and developing code
The ability to display strong problem solving skills and perform under pressure is required. Preferred qualifications
Prior experience with enterprise class application / web development as developer or manager strongly preferred.
