The Elevator Pitch : Why will this be interesting to the best of engineers out there?

Nutanix is obsessed with a seamless customer experience. Internally, this translates to maintaining the highest standards of quality and reliability for the AHV hypervisor stack across all our offerings.

We are looking for outstanding engineers who understand how to play with software abstraction boundaries they can programmatically simulate failures at various levels of abstraction and test the resilience of the stack.

A day in the life of an AHV Quality Engineer :

Problems to solve :

  • AHV hypervisor consists of an open-source KVM stack. We periodically update components from open source to pull the latest security and performance fixes.
  • This role needs the designing of automation pieces that can assess these components for quality independently.

  • AHV hypervisor qualifies various customer workloads across various releases and features. This needs a very high bar in ensuring none of new features break an existing support for a guest, and also proactively catching such failures much faster in the development cycle.
  • Success in the role :

You’ll be working with a team of extremely talented engineers across a spectrum of geographies and experience. The most successful candidate for this role will be someone who can :

  • Understand how abstractions work at various levels, and come up with creative ways of often simulating a failure in place of actually re-creating it.
  • Reason various ways of breaking a system, and be able to drive feature test plans.
  • Influence design of new features by calling out fragile or less secure workflows.
  • Have the ability to convey ideas to a geographically diverse audience using excellent communication / writing skills.
  • AHV Quality Engineer :

Skills you’ll use every day, and good-to-have ones :

The must-haves : Solid understanding of operating systems & hardware boundaries with a focus on being able to reason layers of abstraction.

Ability to write enterprise-quality test automation to stress various parts of the product.
