Lead Product Test Consultant

Qualification :

Bachelors in science , engineering or equivalent

Responsibility :

Project Proposal and Formalization :

  • Analyse the RFP and check for the scope of product customization.
  • Review QA questionnaire (created by the team) to seek clarity on the RFP.
  • Create a framework for the proposal.
  • Review the proposal created by the team.
  • Suggest the estimation model based on the analysis of product and methodology.
  • Provide estimates based on experiences in similar product testing engagements and seek review inputs from the Lead product Consultant.
  • Update profitability model.
  • Create / Review the estimation submitted by Senior Product Specialist.
  • Identify the stakeholders (performance team, automation team, development team) and coordinate with them to gather the inputs.
  • Coordinate with BD team to finalize the proposal document.
  • Support the onsite team to present the proposal.
  • Conduct demos of solution accelerators (eg automation framework) for the customers.
  • Document the scope of the project, project assumptions, dependencies, risk and mitigation.
  • Training and Knowledge Management :

  • Impart and arrange the product trainings (eg knowledge building, technical) for the new entrants.
  • Identify training needs by assessing resources (working on PTG projects) and suggest the training modules to meet the same.
  • Arrange cross product trainings for product testing group.
  • Review and approve elearning and internal certification materials.
  • Collect the case studies based on the prior engagements to drive knowledge management.
  • Knowledge Transition :

  • Provide suggestions to the customers based on knowledge of multiple products.
  • Seek clarity on business needs and the level of customization required.
  • Seek signoff on the reverse KT document prepared by the team.
  • Project Management :

  • Leverage product knowledge and experience to track project against the strategy.
  • Evaluate risks and potential challenges.
  • Use quality check tools (eg COG 20) to ensure the standards and processes.
  • Track the metrics (like AQI Application Quality Index) to ensure that the best practices have been adopted and product testing benchmarks.
  • Coordinate with the client and team to track and resolve the escalations (on issues / defects / team size).
  • Revisit the quality gate mechanism for the project.
  • Prepare checklist to track day to day activities of team.
  • Conduct status meetings with the team to resolve the escalation.
  • Prepare plan to address escalation and communicate same to the client.
  • Prepare and review dashboards for PMR and Senior Management Review.
  • For execution reports, segregate base product issues, configuration issues and complex modifications related issues.
  • Share dashboards across the testing phases with the onsite team.
  • Test Requirement Study, Test Planning and Test Closure :

  • Only for specific project : Analyse the testable requirements and confirm the scope of the project.
  • Gather detailed requirements and seek clarifications from customer / product vendor.
  • Engage with CoEs to seek inputs at this stage.
  • Understand different clients' tools.
  • Identify acceptance criteria.
  • Provide support to the team to understand the scope of customization.
  • Suggest the means of communication (either upload query in QC or Excel template etc) in case of any ambiguity / query.
  • Provide sign off on the business requirement, if required.
  • For Large Sized Project.
  • Create a test strategy (approach, scope, h / w and s / w requirements, types of testing, functional scenarios, assumptions, tool usage, risks foreseen for timelines etc).
  • For Mid Sized Project : Review the test strategy (approach, scope, h / w and s / w requirements, types of testing, functional scenarios, assumptions, tool usage, risks foreseen for timelines etc) and test plan.
  • Identify the product solution accelerator to make an impact on cost and effort.
  • Review the test design and prioritize the test scenarios for the team.
  • Revisit the effort estimation.
  • Design framework for test summary report (quality metrics and test metrics).
  • Review the test summary report, which covers the test execution status and defect status with supporting reasons for missing any goal, submitted by Senior Product Specialist.
  • Participate in product release activity and support team on production issues.
  • Project retrospection and lesson learnt.
  • Product Consulting :

  • Work under leadership of lead product consultant to provide product analysis to the customer based on the market trends and Cognizant experience.
  • Assess the product to ensure complete coverage of client's requirements.
  • Analyse the trend (through bug bank) to suggest a robust solution to the client.
  • Identify the new solution accelerators that can be built for the products.
  • Leakage Retrospection and Project Closure :

  • Provide guidelines to Senior Product Specialist to analyse the defects (added to the bug bank).
  • Review the defect analysis done by Senior Product Specialist.
  • Analyse and capture the key learning from the project and suggest the corrective / preventive measures.
  • Provide signoff on go / nogo along with joint stakeholders & customer, if required.
  • People Management :

  • Conduct goal setting, performance appraisals for Sr Product Specialist.
  • Mentor / coach team on the basis of their career aspirations.
  • Train resources for growth in the Product testing career path.
  • Identify, groom, reward and develop high performers.
  • Resolve escalated conflicts and grievances.
  • Stakeholder Management :

  • Prepare minutes of meetings for the governance review meeting, project management review meeting and any other status reporting to support Lead consultant and Principal Consultant.
  • Conduct demos of solution accelerators (eg automation framework) for the customers and support Lead consultant and Principal Consultant in clients' presentation.
