Wells Fargo Auto Risk Management team provides credit quality guidance and portfolio and operational risk management through education and collaborative customer relationships, by providing professional expertise and empirically-based tools that support strategies and decisions to enhance productivity.

About the role

The Consumer Credit team is responsible for leading, developing and implementing strategic initiatives and processes to drive the company credit culture, appetite, and business performance.

The team is seeking a leader for the Auto Lending Credit Risk team.


  • Lead the India team supporting Auto Lending credit risk function across life-cycle, operations analytics and transformation initiatives.
  • Lead the multidisciplinary team to deliver best in class credit risk management practices to enhance the risk framework.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and process for the Auto lending business through conceptualizing, developing and deploying advanced analytical solutions in a high performing environment.

  • Lead development of predictive strategies / solutions for originations, servicing, default management, repossession, strategic analytics, business intelligence for dealers and customers.
  • Analyze data, perform deep-dives & understand / monitor trends to provide actionable insights across a range of risk analytics initiatives

  • Lead development and enhancement of underwriting and collections operations efforts related to different customer contact strategies and risk grading of customers
  • Provide credit risk governance and oversight for Auto business driving credit culture, risk appetite and business performance.
  • Act as a technical expert and Advice and counsel executive leadership on highly complex issues.

  • Assess and predict risk and performance through business analysis and / or modeling. Establish effective policies, processes, and tools to identify and manage risks.
  • Use predictive sciences for developing future ready solutions. Drive continued exploration of innovative analytic techniques, process and tools to facilitate adoption of latest industry advancements.

  • Develop comprehensive monitoring frameworks and dashboards and provide statistically sound diagnostic evaluation of any emerging or unexpected risk areas to enhance intelligence and facilitate faster decision making.
  • Report on asset quality, portfolio trends, emerging threats and opportunities to manage portfolio losses, growth and profitability.

  • Design, develop and manage an efficient interaction model for this multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent delivery across the functional teams.
  • Develop the necessary structure to manage the growing needs of the business while increasing efficiency and effectiveness of the teams.

  • Develop a high performing team including responsibilities for recruiting, training, coaching and retaining strong analytical capabilities for the analysts that support the various functional areas of credit risk management
  • Lead implementation of complex initiatives with moderate to high risk for the line of business.
  • Communicate effectively with Sr. Management and stakeholders across all areas of the organization.
  • Market Skills and Certifications

    Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, economics, econometrics or computer sciences
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in credit risk or analytics
  • 10+ years of credit risk experience in consumer lending, with some exposure to Auto Lending / Secured / Collateralized business
  • 8+ years of management experience leading sizeable teams
  • Strong Credit Risk analytics skills and comprehensive understanding of P&L and risk drivers
  • Direct experience in most of the following areas : credit risk, fraud risk, collaterals, portfolio analytics, loss forecast, default servicing
  • Knowledge of statistical tools / techniques such as Segmentation, Decision Trees, Clustering, Regression
  • Ability to design and structure complex data & modeling framework for monitoring and analytical reporting
  • Ability to lead project teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Strong ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional area
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities.
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Knowledge and understanding of Auto Lending practices, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key factors impacting credit offerings, including credit risks and regulatory requirements, financial cash flow / NPV model analysis
  • Ability to contribute to strategic decisions and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Develop consensus and gain buy-in for strategic priorities
  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
