Project manager - Trait Genetics (H / F)
In accordance with the Company strategy, the Trait Geneticist contributes to the definition of the most efficient strategy to address trait discovery and deployment for Asian crops.
In collaboration with an international multidisciplinary team including breeders and experts in Pathology, Genomics, Bioanalysis and Statistics, the Trait Geneticist deciphers trait genetics and develops associated molecular breeding tools improving selection methods and accelerating genetic gain.
To participate in projects from initiation to delivery of readily-usable breeding tools or trait-specific genetic information, with a focus on disease resistance
To lead the validation and consolidation of trait genetic information and propose and set up strategies for effective novel trait deployment
To coach and support breeders to facilitate the implementation of new molecular breeding methods
As a link with commercial breeding programs, to contribute to the deployment of novel traits, new breeding tools and accelerate genetic gain
To facilitate the transfer of tools and methods designed for improving efficiency of breeding and speed to market to the research application teams
To identify and propose external collaborations with world-class experts to accelerate trait discovery and tool development
To develop intellectual property protection as appropriate and maintain awareness of intellectual property environment
Location : Bangalore (India) or Khon Kaen (Thailand). It is open in both locations. Please, do not consider the location above "New Delhi".
Highly motivated candidate with strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills and an ability to work in cross-
functional team settings in a multicultural environment
PhD in Biological Science, in a relevant field of plant quantitative genetics or molecular breeding
At least 5 years of successful experience. Experience in private business is a plus
The position requires strong knowledge in plant breeding and experience with the use of molecular technologies in plant breeding, and analysis of genotyping and phenotyping data sets for the development of molecular markers, genetic linkage maps and association mapping
Knowledge and experience in plant pathology is a significant plus
Fluent in written and oral English language is essential
Requires 25% travel, both domestically and internationally
Ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team
Minimum level of experience required
5 years or more
