We need faster, more flexible architecture to allow us to provide outstanding customer experience. This role will be responsible for helping us understand, design, architect, exploit and innovate across all aspects of our Digital landscape.

As we move further into an agile development and delivery model, part of this role will provide the direction on standard patterns and guard rails to balance common technology services with speed to market.

Optimisation of Architecture strategy will pivot from siloed-based project approach to world-leading platform capabilities, providing both the broad and deep design patterns along with practical steps that will acceleration BTs Digital Transformation.

The purpose of the Design Engineer Professional for the Enterprise Service Bus role is to design the best solution for the capabilities / services for the particular component.

The role is focused on best practices, technology, and delivering business value through high quality software.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Provides technical quality assurance over work of other engineers through matrix team structure.
  • Provides sound technical expertise to consult on significant components of a technical solution within a specific domain or cross domain.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.
  • Creates and implements technical solutions for a domain, or cross domain / portfolios of work within a specific technology area autonomously, understanding how solutions impact systems internally and / or externally and assessing impact of change.
  • Delivers resolutions to problems that tend to be complex, cross-domain or of high impact to customers.
  • Executes technical roadmap for specific area or domain.
  • Integrates and implements end-to-end solutions across customers and business areas.
  • Liaises with customers, suppliers and peers to update on progress and resolve issues, managing impacts on components integral to delivery of scope.
  • Monitors technical solutions to ensure alignment between business need and scope of delivery, managing any changes raised during the project and manages interdependencies that arise during delivery.
  • Delivers and implements discrete technical solutions, including scoping, testing, delivery to live, on time and budget autonomously.
  • Provides technical expertise to ensure solution integrity and quality of third party inputs.
  • Identifies improvements to process, tools and service to improve delivery of benefits for customers.
  • Develops and drives improvements to CI / CD
  • You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Product and service knowledge : Demonstrate subject matter expertise in complex, technical infrastructure, products and services.

  • Improvement focus : Coach and empower teams to anticipate and analyse obstacles in work processes. You support them to develop solutions and implement ways to improve processes and make things more efficient.
  • Issue management : Conduct a deep review of data and issues to quickly reveal the root cause. You recommend short and long-term solutions to complex problems and follow through to make sure we solve them.
  • Be agile : You identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matter expert or content owner.
  • Stakeholder Management : Develop close relationships with customers, vendors, suppliers and BT employees at a senior level, confidently present information and facilitate negotiations.
  • Managing key stakeholders to enable successful software design and delivery.

  • Systems Knowledge : Detailed knowledge of the ESB. Good knowledge of JMS, MQ and WLS.
  • Desirable Accreditation

  • Oracle Weblogic certification
  • Agile Delivery : Experience in use of Scrum or similar approaches to deliver software, improving throughput, toolsets and processes.
  • Design and Development : Experience in Designing and developing services
  • Dev Ops : Experience working with operation teams supporting automation of their tasks and using feedback from these teams to improve processes, tooling, and solutions delivered to production.
  • Experience in Devops Tools

  • CICD : Experience in developing scripts for CICD pipeline
  • Essential Role Specific Experience :

  • Minimum 3+ years experience with Oracle OSB ,WebLogic, design, development
  • Expert in Devops tools
  • Methodical & progressive fault identification skills for both software & hardware
  • Proven ability to work as a team and help each other during critical issues
  • Commitment to CI / CD and process automation
  • Experience working within an agile delivery methodology (Scrum), using the methodology to iteratively improve the product, tools and processes.
  • Desirable Role Specific Experience :

  • Queuing technologies (MQ, JMS) ,Pulse Secure vTM and Weblogic
  • Strong communication skills & capable of engaging with colleagues at a senior level
  • Strong documentation and proposal skills with attention to detail
  • Strong customer skills and understanding of customer experience measures
  • Understanding of other BT Integration systems.
