This is an exciting time to join the Data & Insights team at The Economist Group. Under our newly appointed Chief Data Officer we are creating a center of excellence spanning research, analytics and data science partnering with the whole group, including our core news subscription business, our Economist Intelligence Unit, Client Solutions and Events business.

Our purpose is to better understand and affect the drivers of our business through data analytics and research, with a focus on our users, B2C customers and B2B clients.

EIU is seeking an experienced insight professional to join our Data Team as an Insight Analyst. Our Data Team is a central source of data skills working across all facets of the business.

As part of this team you will be working to understand customer behaviour on our website eiu.com and ability to join up data from multiple sources to generate deeper insights for the business

If you have the skills to generate data-enabled insights from complex data, develop recommendations through data-enabled story telling, that will empower EIU to accelerate growth and bring user needs to the fore, then this is the role for you.

Our website is a key part of our digital ecosystem. It’s crucial to our business that both subscribers and new readers have the best possible experience when they visit.

In this role you will work closely with the marketing teams, product managers and editorial teams and become part of the team behind eiu.

com, making sure insight and data are at the heart of the product development process. You will become an expert in the data insights, acting as the point of contact for questions about behaviours of existing customers as well as prospects.

Our ideal candidate is someone with an intense curiosity and passion for problem solving, the ability to envision solutions, a positive can-do-attitude, along with strong communications and interpersonal skills.

Accountabilities

How you will contribute :

  • Collaborate closely with marketing teams to understand their needs and acquire data from partners and agencies relating to campaign performance
  • Agree KPIs for measuring performance and establish appropriate reporting for the sta
  • Participate in strategic discussion and make recommendations based on insights you uncover
  • Proactively identify insights to bring more visibility on usage patterns, customer experience, content consumption patterns and types
  • Build relationships with key business teams like marketing, product & Editorial, to understand their needs, objectives, mindsets and pain points and design analysis and insights that support them
  • Generate Insights by combining multiple data sources to generate joined up view of customer activities, behaviours
  • Support regular reporting of performance of eiu.com, products usage and insights for editorial teams around the content consumption patterns
  • Participate in the product roadmap process, campaigns delivery, identifying and sizing opportunities in data and help define measurement framework, set target metrics, and measure progress against goals
  • Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills for this role include :

  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to examine data critically to extract meaningful insights
  • Ability to work with large datasets using SQL (must) to query and manipulate for aggregation and exploration for identifying patterns and insights
  • Experience in producing insight from large datasets to work on use cases like Client Retention analysis, Factors affecting usage patterns and product renewals, Churn Analysis and similar other use cases
  • Experience working with data from multiple data systems and databases
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical colleagues
  • The following would also be advantageous
  • Experience working with BI tools like Google Data Studio, Tableau etc.
  • Experience working with R, Python etc
  • Experience working in a digital subscription or online retail business
  • The ability to engage your audience and act as a voice of the customer, highlight their needs to the business.
  • A meticulous approach to all work, completed to high level of quality
  • The ability to work under time pressure while providing high quality output
  • The ability to work on your own with conviction to prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
