Job Description

This role sits within our Financial & Risk ( F&R ) business. On October 1, 2018, Thomson Reuters sold a 55% majority stake in F&R and entered into a strategic partnership with private equity funds managed by Blackstone, retaining a 45% interest in the business.

In India, the execution of this transaction has a delayed closing date as it is subject to a judicial process for closure and customary closing conditions.

When the transaction closes in India, this role will be included in the new F&R entity.

Economic Data Team in Bangalore is responsible for the Thomson Reuters Economics offering on products like Eikon and Datastream.

We offer high value content, which is used by investment professionals to form investment strategies and by economists and researchers to conduct economic analysis.

There are two components to the process :

Real Time Economic Data - This is a set of key market moving indicators used by the trading community around the globe to trade a wide range of investments instruments.

Our team monitors them 'Real Time' as they are released by the source and covered by our editorial teams from lockups and news rooms worldwide.

Time Series data - this is a set of time series indicators which we cover for over 100 countries. Historical economics content is used in various tools of portfolio analysis, government policy and macroeconomic research.

The position requires one

  • To gain a good understanding of what economic data is and the process of its delivery to our products.
  • To work on different data bases and understand the data flow to the products.
  • Liaise with the Editorial teams worldwide to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
  • To build a good knowledge on how the data is displayed on the products and more so to have a very good understanding of how our customers use economic data."
  • Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities :

    The candidate will be required to support and maintain the economic data for products like Eikon and Datastream.

    Update of economic indicators time series based on releases from primary sources of economic data (mostly statistical offices, central banks, ministries)

    Ensure that data is collected and input according to the required standards of accuracy, timeliness and completeness

    Respond to client’s questions, explaining the content and gathering feedback within a specific time frame

    Communicate with the team on challenges you face and recommend ideas for improving the efficiency of procedures

    Follow news about the current state of economy in the covered markets to better understand the reason for changes of the most popular indicators

    Key responsibilities include :

  • Maintaining time series economic data in Falcon
  • Performing daily checks on the data base to maintain superior accuracy for the clients
  • Handling enhancement requests and short term data projects
  • Understanding of the systems and data bases involved in the data delivery
  • Build Knowledge of the content
  • Monitoring and updating real time economic data releases
  • Effective Leasing with the editorial bureaus around the world
  • Preparing audit reports and maintaining logs of releases
  • Handling customer queries
  • Incumbent will be expected to be flexible in working in different shifts.

    Education : Preferably a post graduate
