As an ISNetwork and Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for bothnetwork and Systems Management activities. Focusing on NetworkManagement, you will be responsible for the operational health(Security, Availability, Performance, Interoperability andReliability) of Micron’s data communications systems.
You willsupport the acquisition, installation, maintenance, andadministration of Micron’s data and voice communications systems.
Network Engineers specialize in LAN / WAN and Telecommunicationshardware, software and cabling. You will regularly work withMicron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed businessrequirements.
You will be expected to suggest, promote, andleverage published standards to minimize environment complexity andensure regulatory as well as license compliance.
Focusing onSystems Management, you will support the acquisition, installation,maintenance, and administration of Micron’s core computingenvironment (servers, storage, operating systems andinfrastructure).
These systems are host platforms for Micron’smanagement, file, print, database, remote access, mail, web,manufacturing, and application (client / server) systems.
SystemManagers specialize in hardware and operating system support, usersupport, account and permission management, and the performancemanagement, security, and tuning of systems.
You will work withMicron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed businessrequirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote and leveragepublished standards to minimize environment complexity and ensureregulatory as well as license compliance.
Provide operational support for network (wiredand wireless), voice, data, and video infrastructure for theworldwide Micron enterprise.
Manage and maintain the existingenvironment.
Integrate and support newtechnology that requires network transport.
Respond appropriately to alarms, alerts, andnotifications for the environment from the managementsystem.
Maintain the information in themanagement system.
Manage contractor supportpersonnel in the operational tasks.
Coordinate with vendors regarding updates to equipmentand the equipment lifecycle.
Monitor theneeds of the site (bandwidth, network, etc.).
Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and businessunits for upgrades of services and systems.
Optimize performance of existing and newequipment.
Configure and operate equipmentthat is supported.
Document processes andprocedures.
Communicate the status of the unified network(wired and wireless), voice, data, and video infrastructure.
Provide formal corporatecommunications on directional changes or changes that will impactexisting services.
Keep business unitsinformed on the status.
Educate businessunits on the feasibility and limitations of the technologies in theenvironment.
Respond to customer inquiriesregarding network performance.
Communicateand collaborate with peer groups (enterprise architects, securityteam, server team, etc.).
Define, design, and implement core systemhardware and operating system solutions.
Define, in conjunction withusers and service providers, functionality required to supportbusiness strategies.
Work with customers togather requirements, and propose, engineer, and provision systemsolutions.
Research and partner with vendorsand management to select products that best meet companyneeds.
Manage system setup andstandardization of features and usage.
Install, configure, support, and maintain hardware andoperating system solutions.
Create systemdocumentation, testing, training, and post-deploymentassessments.
Maintain systems by keeping them tuned and compliantwith company standards for optimum performance and capacityutilization.
Maintain systems with thecurrent OS, and software and firmware patches andupgrades.
Maintain standards of operations,such as backups, naming standards, and configurations.
Coordinate planned downtime and software installs ofyour assigned servers.
Communicate systemstatus and coordinate maintenance activities.
Support day-to-day operationsand provide customer support.
Provide 24x7 on-call technical support and expertise forcustomer issues and service provider escalation.
Monitor the environment for potential system issues andresolve appropriately.
Adhere to the changemanagement process for any planned maintenance, or when potentialissues are identified.
Provide training fornew team members, computer services staff, and external supportteams.
Coordinate vendor-specific supportand problem resolution.
Ensure the operational health (Security,Availability, Performance, Interoperability and Reliability) ofMicron’s core computing resources.
Establish and implement policies, procedures, andstandards, and ensure conformance.
Plan andimplement strategies for minimizing service outages, and forreducing the impact of such outages on business operations (i.
e.,availability, contingency, and disaster planning).
Adhere to Micron’s established processes andpolicies.
Continually work to improve operations.
Define and adhere toestablished service and operational level agreements.
Collect, monitor, report, and interpret operatingmetrics.
Evaluate and test new software forcompatibility with the computing environment.
Propose and implement system enhancements (software andhardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliabilityof the system.
Identify service improvementopportunities.
Provide system security and access.
Partner with serviceproviders and other IS teams to maintain user accounts, loginscripts, user profiles, group additions, and renames.
Adhere to Micron’s security policies for all managedservices.
Regularly audit systems to ensurethey are meeting compliance requirements.
Evolve the computingenvironment to meet future demands.
Analyze operating statistics and project future demandsfor service (i.e., capacity planning).
Benchmark best practices where appropriate.
Develop cost-effective solutions
Communicate and collaborate with peer groups (enterprisearchitects, security team, network team, etc.).
