Designation : Team Leader

Purpose of the Job :

Major Challenges (The challenges inherent in the job that require a continual test of the job holder’s abilities)

  • Keep the knowledge updated with the evolving technology and the organizational strategies.
  • Gaining good knowledge quickly on various distributed systems globally while working on various projects.
  • Work with stakeholders globally during dffierent timezones depending on the project needs.
  • Experience & Qualification :

  • Proven experience in architectural solutioning.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or the equivalent
  • Experience in FSA technologies, particularly, Java web based technologies like openAM, Cloud and SOA architecture, databases like Mongo.
  • Experience in implementing integration patterns. Basic understanding of mainframe technologies is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders
  • Knowledge & Skills :

  • Understanding program strategy and ability to provide solutions to deliver that strategy.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to explain solutions and technical concepts to stake holders.
  • Self-organized and self-starter to appropriately prioritize and plan his complex work in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Results oriented with strong conceptual and analytical skill and problem solving aptitude.
  • Team player with experience collaborating cross-team to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers, routers, etc.
  • A minimum of four years in a senior technical role such as technical lead, team lead, architect deally for a major consultancy.
  • To assists in the delivery of assigned architecture projects and in some cases may lead smallprojects. The job holder will work across Domains within their Region andcontributes to, and in some cases leads the design and development of architectures that are aligned with Group standards, IT and business strategy, meet business objectives and satisfy all relevant regulatory and operational risk controls.

    The Architect also contributes to the development of Group standards, and identifies and implements new practices, processes and technologies where required.

  • Understand program strategy and deliver solutions to meet needs.
  • Maintain an awareness of business solutions in the area of work.
  • Investigate systems that might benefit the program.
  • Lead in designing, specifying and selecting information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, infrastructure and performance.
  • Adhere to the current and future Application Architecture. Develop and maintain the model where required.
  • Develop software architecture design and support development team in implementing the proposed solutions.
  • Help analysts to estimate cost, and prepare business cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licenses, development and support

  • Design systems that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations for both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Deliver solutions in line with the program strategy and adopt FSA technologies. Leverage on existing solutions if any.
  • Clear and precise communications around the solution to all the stake holders including implementation project teams
  • Share and learn from the project experience effectively.
  • People / Team Management

    Will require excellent leadership skills to ensure the global team are engaged, motivated and driven.

    Co-ordinate with the application / engineering SMEs to understand and resolve application complexities on the solutions proposed.

    Operations Delivery Management

    Drive operations and best practices. Adhere to governance frameworks. Manage risks, issues and dependencies. Create an environment which anticipates risk, ensuring action is taken to quantify and mitigate them.

    Demonstrate agility to respond to customers’ needs. Show clear understanding of the customer’s global distributed requirements.

    Must demonstrate, collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.

    Customers / Stakeholder Management

    Understand business strategy / needs clearly, propose solutions documenting clear choice, cost benefit analysis, adherence to FSA etc.

    Keep business stake holders and the application SMEs informed while working on solutions / design patterns. Collaborate with the stakeholders and have consensus while finalizing the solution.

    Will ordinarily support across a single Triage team, and across multiple Pod’s within the DevOps team.

    Role will have global responsibility, often supporting multiple Global Businesses, due to the shared usage of many services.

    Risk and Compliance Management

    Analyze, anticipate and mitigate risk factors and work with the team and stakeholders to minimize risk.

    Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements, including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behavior.

    The jobholder will support the principle that the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation.

    This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and / or external regulators.

    The jobholder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the Three Lines of Defence’.

    The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required.

    Service Reviews and Reporting

    Should support the project team and business through out the life cycle of the project.

    Guide the team during low level design phase and ensure proper reviews are conducted to ensure the application level design is in line with the proposed solution.

    Leadership & Teamwork

    Actively contributes to a positive work environment. Identifies opportunities to enhance team performance. Translate the required course of action into a clear and realistic vision.

    Monitor complex dependencies and respond accordingly to ensure on-going delivery in line with customers goals.

    Ensure that a Service Management mindest and disciplines are embedded within all roles within the Triage Team. Specifically that all team members are aware of minimum operating standards, have undertaken appropriate training / development, and are certified as appropriate.

    Strong experience within IT in a large geographically dispersed organization, with experience of leading individuals within a matrix organisation.

    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.

    Ability to think creatively to drive innovative solutions. Ability to multi-task. Ability to build connections and work collaboratively across boundaries.

    Good communication skills, self-motivated and adaptive to change. Good technical, problem solving, lateral thinking, planning and interpersonal skills.
