Description - (Enter the key activities of the role) Working for the Manufacturing Engineering department, this role is an Senior Manufacturing Engineer position with focus on Electronics and Electrical production, assembly and test.

Manufacturing Engineers are required to design, set up and maintain the production process, tools and test equipment, this is for both in house production and to support third party supplier production as required.

The role requires working with suppliers, designers, other ELEKTA Factories, as required to- Design transfer to EBMS production and third party suppliers.

EBMS Development, improvement and optimization of production process. Manufacturing requirement input into ECO and PCP process.

ECOPCP Manufacturing and corrective action of shop floor breakdowns. Provide technical support to team members, be focal point for technical expertise.

Design and implement tools and test equipment for the production process. Attend meeting and represent the industrial engineering department.

Responsibilities - (Using e.g. bullet points, identify the detailed aspects and specific responsibilities of the role.) Take a lead role in planning and implementing production process improvement activities.

Provide support to other engineers in the team in terms of commitment, motivation and technical expertise. Provide technical support to the production process and department to resolve manufacturing engineering related issues for released hardware, including authorization of Non Conformance Reports and amendments to production documents.

Support the production plan, ensuring the product is delivered on time to meet customer demands by eliminating testing bottle necks.

Responsible to assure correct testing standard hours in BoM and analysing deviations; review variances to manufacturing orders and if applicable, take action to reduce variance.

BOM Compliance and ensure that products and services are provided and used in a controlled, environmentally responsible and regulatory compliant way.

Ensuring all non-compliances and documentation maintenance applicable to the area of control are understood and allocated for corrective action and completed within the agreed target dates (CLM, NCR, ECR, ECO Concessions) (CLM,NCR,ECR,ECO Concessions) Design and documentation of the electrical assembly and test process including- Specification of Test Equipment and Special To Type Test equipment, in terms of Design, Manufacture and validation before use, and providing cost justification for them.

Specification of test methods (PTS and TRS) Develop and maintain safe working practices, particularly with electrical hazards Test Process improvement through Value Stream Mapping and other tools Design and documentation of electrical assembly process and tools for Electronic or Electrometrical assemblies including Cable forms.

General production process efficiency- Identify and carry out manufacturing process improvements to improve efficiency, quality and cost savings through Value Stream Mapping, LEAN Manufacturing techniques and other tools.

Support projects to transfer production from one facility to another (example Elekta to Elekta, Elekta to Supplier and Supplier to Elekta) To define and promote good workmanship standards.

Participate in Engineering Change and Product Creation processes Update production and test process and carry out Process Validation as a result of design change.

Participate in the Product Creation process to develop manufacturing process, testability, tools, test equipment and carry out process validation.

Other activities which the reporting manager assigns Raise Purchase Requisition for test equipment / tools. Authorization of production document changes for Advance Action in production, including production permits.

Authorization of Non Conformance Reports when the documented process cannot be followed. Relevant Knowledge, skills and competEncies - (For the role, specify the following - educational background and knowledge, - details of relevant experience, - skills required for the role, - key performance competencies that are required) Formal Education & Certification Electronics related Degree from university plus minimum 2 years experience of working in an Electronics production environment.

2 Experience & Knowledge Working knowledge of Electrical / Electronics manufacturing process, example PCBs, Transformers, Control Systems, Backplanes, Cable forms etc.

  • Working knowledge with the ability to implement and advise on workmanship standards for both in house and third party production, working knowledge of IPC standards is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with the performance and safety standards of radiotherapy equipment is desired but not essential. Work experience within wholly international or Joint venture Company working with technically complex, high cost capital equipment, is desired but not essential.

    Experience and a good track record of Six Sigma and Lean projects that have driven change for continuous improvement, is desired but not essential.

    Skills Ability to use CAD tools such as Solid Works, Solid Edge, Protel, and Mentor Graphics. Solid Works, Solid Edge, Protel, and Mentor Graphics.

    Strong English skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Able to communicate with all levels within a multi-disciplinary international company.

    Able to travel to visit supplier and other Elekta factories if required. Willingness to accept responsibility Willingness to learn and develop to maintain current electronics manufacturing knowledge.
