Service Ops is part of the Oracle - RightNow's Cloud Servicesteam. We are responsible for designing, building, andsupporting the solutions and systems required to operate the Oracle Service Cloud environment. This includes building andmanaging the servers and equipment in the datacenter, to being the experts forthe various systems that comprise the cloud environment.
Asa MySQL Database Administrator for Oracle Service Cloud your role is todesign, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databaseswhile ensuring high levels of data availability. You are alsoresponsible for developing automation processes, benchmarking, implementing,and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity andavailability of databases and their accompanying software in the Service Cloud environment.
EssentialDuties and Responsibilities Strong MySQL and Oracle database server administration skills Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability Developing automation processes, benchmarking, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software in the Service Cloud environment Troubleshoot difficult issues until problem is resolved, including digging into code and finding logic errors or inefficiencies Strong systems administration skills including Linux and network troubleshooting Assist MySQL DBA team in supporting operations Python programming experience required
EssentialKnowledge, Skills, and Background 2 years Linux experience 4 years MySQL experience including dual-masters,replication, binlogs, backups, SQL tuning, tracking down crashes, tracking download spikes, restoring data 2 years Oracle Database Administration versions 11g through current,RAC a plus 1 year Python programming or bash scripting College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or three years equivalent work experience Certifications in MySQL or Linux recommended Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, including MySQL and Oracle database Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience Project management experience Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws Good written and oral communication skills Strong technical documentation skills Good interpersonal skills Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language Highly self motivated and directed Keen attention to detail Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Strong customer service orientation Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Work with a world class team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database generation, coding, and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity.
Provide Development and/or Production support. This includes creating primary database storage structures, designing and creating primary objects, modifying database structure as necessary for enhancements or performance, creating documentation, designing interfaces, database objects, and creating plans. Monitor and optimize performance of the database, plan for backup and recovery of the database, and allocate system storage and plan future storage needs. Create database-related scripts and programs to support development and production environments. Research, evaluate, design, test, recommend, and plan implementation of new or improved RDBMS, ETL and database tools.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with multiple distributed relational DBSM*s or a depth and focus in Oracle and related tools. Exposure and practice at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases for enterprise use is preferred. Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its database is desirable. BS or equivalent desired.
