The opportunity

With the increasing growth of EY’s service offerings, particularly in the technology space and the emergence of new privacy laws around the globe, we now have a role for a privacy impact assessment (PIA) coordinator.

The Global PIA Coordinator will be part of the data protection team sitting within the Global General Counsel’s office and will be working with a team of highly experienced data privacy practitioners.

Your key responsibilities

EY conducts PIAs of applications and business initiatives that handle personal or client information. Each PIA reviews the application or initiative against global standards and, where necessary, provides advice to mitigate data privacy and confidentiality risks.

As the Global PIA Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating the global review of PIAs as well as assisting with the maintenance of EY’s PIA Platform on an ongoing basis.

This is a truly global role in a dynamic and growing business, working closely with the other members of the global data protection team, EY regional / local privacy leaders as well as data protection resources across the EY Network and external counsel.

As part of your responsibilities, you will :

  • Assist members of the Global PIA team with global data privacy projects and activities, including : sending out Global PIAs to the Area Privacy Networks for their review and feedback (initially for EMEIA and AsiaPac and potentially also for the Americas at a later time);
  • tracking their progress and issuing reminders to the network; following-up on any late responses; collating all feedback into the PIA Feedback Form;
  • sending the final documents out to the network; and assisting with the filing of them on the PIA Platform.

  • Assist members of the Global PIA team with triaging questions / queries / new matters received from EY stakeholders relating to the Global PIA programme including :
  • o Responding directly to stakeholders’ questions / queries on process related matters where applicable under the supervision of members of the Global PIA team;
  • o Searching records to determine whether a PIA has already been completed for the system which is the subject of the query;
  • o Assisting with creating a record of all new PIA matters opened on our matter management system; and

    o Referring stakeholders to the correct people / team for a local or Global PIA.

  • Assisting with the maintaining of EY’s PIA Platform on an ongoing basis, which also currently serves as EY's record of processing activities as defined in Article 30 of the EU
  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Tasks include :

  • o Ensure that the information contained in the PIA Platform is accurate and up-to-date, e.g. via assisting with uploading the latest versions of the PIA documents are available on the Platform (by reviewing and removing any old versions);
  • o Follow-up with system owners to determine whether systems are still in- production or whether they have been decommissioned and updating the PIA Chart accordingly;
  • o Follow-up with system owners to confirm that all data privacy Action Items which were identified for the system in the Action Plan have been completed for the system;
  • o Make sure that all systems in the PIA Chart have a corresponding planning IT identification number (the unique ID issued for systems by the EY Global InfoSec team) and also a Passport Matter Number.

  • Assist with the completion of non-complex PIAs under the direct supervision of the members of the Global PIA team.
  • Provide project management assistance and support with privacy projects undertaken by the Global Data Protection team.
  • Skills and attributes for success

    We are seeking a strong legal or compliance associate who enjoys having a global role, working closely with the business whilst being part of a wider experienced data privacy team.

  • Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Previous experience of working in a financial or professional services environment
  • Familiarity and experience with the application of data protection law
  • Education to degree standard
