Asa Senior SSD Firmware Development Engineer at MicronTechnology, Inc., you will develop high-performance controllerfirmware for innovative volatile and non-

volatile memory systems.In this position, you will assist in evaluating, designing,building, bench testing, debugging and failure analyzing firmwarefor new high-

performance memory controllers and Solid- State Drivesthat will increase performance, while reducing power, latency andSoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target markets.

You canexpect to work closely with firmware engineers, firmware testengineers, ASIC design engineers, system test engineers, systemfailure analysis engineers, product engineers, firmware toolsdevelopers to solve cross-

functional product developmentissues.

Your responsibilitieswill include, but are not limited to, thefollowing :

  • Participate as ateam member and work effectively to develop SSD BackEndfirmware.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in coding skills,failure analysis, and the use of tools that support theseactivities.
  • Validate customer requirements andperform failure analysis on FW related issues.
  • Developstructured source code targeting the embedded environmentassociated with state of the art memory.
  • Perform designverification using a variety of verification methods, includingsimulation and product testing.
  • Focus on firmwarequality in the system and the target application.
  • Participate in SCRUM / Agile processes and distributed codereviews.
  • Develop new test tools and methods.
  • Follow specific processes / procedures / work flows.
  • Demonstrate the effective analysis of functional orperformance issues with the firmware and hardware in testenvironments or target host systems.
  • Technicalcommunications will be required between other teams and thefirmware team (both verbal and written).
  • You willreview, contribute to, and create clear documentation fordeliverables that must meet both internal specifications / standardsand SSD industry standards and specifications.
  • Successful candidate for thisposition will have :

  • 7+ Year ofexperience with storage Firmware development and debug usingprotocol analyzer.
  • Knowledge or working experience withNand flash.
  • Strong working knowledge of firmwaredevelopment, verification, system failure analysis, embeddedsystems design and real time embedded systems.
  • Strongproblem solving skills, including the ability to find creativesolutions to difficult problems.
  • Strong workingknowledge of software engineering principles and designing anddeveloping firmware using assembly and C / C++ programming.
  • Strong debugging skills in an embedded firmware applicationincluding :
  • o Using development tools and IDE'ssuch as Slick Edit, SourcePoint and Realview.

    oProblem re-creation and trapping

    o Logging anddiagnostics

    o Experience with digital hardwaredesign and test equipment such as In-Circuit Emulators (ICE) andlogic / bus analyzers

  • Strong working knowledge analyzingcomplex firmware and hardware issues.
  • Strong knowledgeworking identifying and optimizing performance of criticalalgorithms.
  • Knowledge of the Agile software developmentprocess life cycle.
  • Strong knowledge of structuredfirmware development process and life cycle.
  • Strongskills in communicating complex technical ideas / concepts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicateeffectively (written and verbal) across multiple locations andteams.
  • Education : BS or MS inComputer Engineering, Computer Science, or ElectricalEngineering.
