Legal’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC) supports the Legal department’s delivery of legal services. It sets the standards for the department’s centralized processes and controls, delivers tools the department uses to work efficiently and effectively, and drives the department’s change agenda with data, technology, innovation, legal knowledge and a client-
centric approach. Within the OGC, the Legal Relationships and Skills Team oversees committees, department communication, learning and development and professional responsibility.
The team also cultivates and maintain Legal’s external relationships, including strategic engagement with our outside counsel partners.
Outside Counsel Engagement Analyst Job Description
Under the general supervision and direction of Head of Global Strategic Pricing and the Analyst will implement strategic pricing strategies, in partnership with internal and Outside Counsel as well as assume primary responsibility for the Outside Counsel Engagement team’s pricing data, analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities :
Analyze, track, and maintain pertinent information relating to all law firm pricing and budgeting efforts and offerings across the Legal department;
Build reports and analysis to study ongoing AFA engagements, particularly focused on the success or failure of initial pricing strategies in producing profitable outcomes;
Research and maintain law firm and outside counsel information in relevant database(s);
Partner and collaborate with other Operations teams (i.e. Legal Third Party Oversight, Legal Billing, Procurement and Legal Data) on developing and / or refining procedures, policies, and documents that improve outside counsel pricing and engagement;
Create and design materials for stakeholders in execution of pricing strategies;
Identify, track and report on key metrics, LOB spend analysis and best practices;
Develop and execute alternative fee arrangements & requests for proposals and other
Assist in negotiating law firm rates and volume discounts;
Partner with Legal Billing to ensure data integrity on matter / billing data
Research relevant legal market and competitor information and analysis to aid in the achievement of strategic objectives and goals;
Partner with OCE Law Firm Relationship Analyst with executing objectives including : ;
Arranging, scheduling and overseeing outside counsel engagement meetings with key internal and external stakeholders;
Researching and sourcing of new law firms
Creating relationship meeting materials;
Overseeing OCE database(s) management;
Inputting, maintaining, and analyze, law firm, pricing and rates data;
Tracking and provide data and analytics for OCE reporting (newsletter, intranet, QBRs, FBRs, Value Plan);
Managing distribution of mass communications to outside counsel;
Creating, developing and maintaining high-quality presentations, as needed, and;
Participating in end-user quality assurance testing for new technology enhancements and products.
Qualifications of Successful Candidates :
The desired candidate will have a background in finance, legal operations, paralegal work or project management;
High proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and utilize additional software and systems;
BA in business, finance or qualification in a related field;
Familiarity with financial services industry and / or the legal industry is highly preferable;
Strong project management skills with meticulous attention to detail, timing, deadlines and organization;
Knowledge of legal industry and business acumen; apply sound judgment and discretion with respect to confidential and sensitive information;
Ability to work independently and with teams, creatively and proactively;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage effectively with all levels of personnel in a collaborative manner;
Proven organizational skills and ability to execute with urgency, timeliness and excellence.
