Job Description :
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end technical architecture of the Retail Telecom environment.
The Integration Analyst will work in a process aligned organization, in one or more of the following skill pools : WAN, LAN, Firewall, Remote Access, Voice;
and in one or more of the following processes (according to the ITIL standard) : Capacity, Change, Configuration (including development of standards), Inventory or Problem Management (including Event Management and Root Cause Analysis).
Candidate needs to have the ability to quickly become a third-line expert in at least one of the above technologies and have a broad understanding of the others.
Incident Management - Provide support for escalated network and telecoms incidents, as part of the global follow the sun technical team.
Drive problem management within Shell and with suppliers, including tracking of action plans and continuous improvement actions
Accountable for adhering to the Change Management processes within Retail Telecom, ensuring all relevant changes are communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
Provide technical recommendations and approve technical designs for projects implementing infrastructure changes
Contribute to Retail Business driven PCI audits as requested. Support remediation of agreed findings.
Ensure end-to-end network infrastructure documentation (drawings) are maintained and kept evergreen
Work at the direction of the Service Manager to drive the Service Management Procedure (set-up / change / terminate service, ongoing reviews & signs offs : scorecard reviews, repository and inventory reviews, and invoice validation).
Qualifications and Skills
Masters Degree in related field with related professional qualification eg MCSE - Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, MNS - Master of Network Science (3Com Qualification),CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Analyst, CCNP Cisco Certified Network Professional, CIE Cisco Certified Internet Expert
Expertise in one or more of the following areas : routing, switching, firewalls, secure access, telephony, Cisco and 3Com equipment
3 years experience in Telecoms / Network operation including technical troubleshooting of infrastructure and telecoms issues
Systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving with demonstrable verbal and written
Good interpersonal skills and is confident in dealing with business users.
Good understanding of the software engineering life-cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems.
Proficient in Telecommunications Protocols including IP addressing, IP subnetting, IP routing, Access Control Lists, VSAT networks and VPN’s
Knowledge of Retail Business
Experience in design and development of cost effective solutions that meet functional, technical, and performance requirements
Experience in production of technical infrastructure design documentation to a high standard
Experience in review of technical documentation to verify quality and compliance with client requirements and established architectural standards and guidelines
