Thisposition is a customer-facing role in the optical fiber business’ commercial organization, supporting market development and application engineering functions for India market.
This is an India-based role in the long term, starting as an inward looking technical role and evolving into an external techno-
commercial role. The role allows the MDE and AE teams to increase customer engagements and focus on a broader set of priorities.
The role supports in enabling succession planning in the India’s fiber commercial organization.
Market Development :
Build relationships with working level teams at telecom operators’ organizations; engage deeply to understand their network, processes and challenges.
Leverage these relationships to build visibility into operators’ projects, identify opportunities for Corning products. Our objective is to be a larger part of the operator’s business.
Be the voice of the customer within Corning, solve their problems, and get things done for them!
Build process to track opportunities in Government and private sector for Corning products, track tenders end-to-end, support understanding of the market for Corning products.
Provide solid support to customer-facing teams, create and own documentation on account plans, customized spec recommendations, customer engagements.
Be the one-stop shop for content creation and content maintenance for the commercial team. Key responsibility of this position is to connect customer’s challenges with available solutions and / or new product developments, create value messaging in the form of presentations and analysis.
Work closely India sales and product-line organization to form marketing strategies that enable a pull for Corning products.
Application Engineering :
This aspect of the job requires the candidate to possess / develop a technical understanding of optical communications.
Wear the engineer’s hat and travel to cable customers routinely and on need basis, when technical support is requested by the customer, be in front of the customer in 24 hours as the first responder!
Provide background support to sales team, drive incremental changes to increase productivity and process efficiencies in internal engagements.
Objective is to enable sales team to focus on external engagements.
Engage with Sales and Quality teams to enable timely closure of open product-related topics, maintain end-to-end documentation for quality issues and sales opportunities.
Support product qualification activities including engaging with CACT.
Support Sales and CS to prepare fiber quotes, assist in developing must / want templates, terms sheets and fiber / preform contracts.
Follow up with cable customers to keep track of the quotes provided and drive closure of each inquiry by understanding who won the bid and on what terms.
Minimum Requirements :
Engineer, technically qualified with aptitude for commercial operations
3 5 years’ ofexperience, with at least 2 years in telecommunications sector
Good verbal and written communications in English is a must, with ability to express ideas clearly and precisely
Understanding of transport networks is desirable, work-ex in Networks division of any telecom operator is a plus
Experience in a customer facing role
Willing to travel & ability to be on the move at short notice.
Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel necessary skill in this role, documentation is a key aspect
Based in Pune / India for the long term (at least 10 years)
Effective task prioritization with ability to multi-task to deliver work on time
