The UX Design Group at FactSet collaborates on cross-functional project teams to contribute to the delivery of high-quality products that meet corporate and client needs.
The Group defines the user interaction standards and the visual signature for FactSet’s software applications and websites.
The Senior UX Specialist in Interaction Design follows a task-centered design approach that ensures the users’ goals are at the center of product development.
The best candidate for this role will help improve the overall user experience by integrating user-centered design processes into the software development life cycle, contributing interaction design expertise, and translating requirements into intuitive, consistent, and compelling user experiences.
Facilitate user needs discovery and problem identification by conducting brain-storming sessions with Product Managers, iterating high-level work-flow concepts in wireframes and prototypes, and defining usability objectives
Specify interactions, including user actions & system responses, screen layouts, error catching & prevention, navigation, etc.
Apply principles of Information Architecture to create workflows and layouts that are logical and hierarchical while following Design Best Practices like simplicity, consistency, discoverability, and scalability
Produce wireframes or prototypes that depict the workflow solutions; deliver & present these to project teams; gather feedback and resolve interaction-design-related issues to ensure the design solution meets all requirements : business, user, cost / benefit and risk analyses, deadlines, design, engineering, and QA
Collaborate with Visual Designers to iteratively refine the design and ensure Visual Design requirements are accommodated
Contribute to the definition and documentation of user interaction design standards for all FactSet applications by applying financial industry knowledge and knowledge of design best practices;
promote adherence to standards
Bachelor’s degree in interaction design, human computer interaction, or related field
A minimum of 4 years’ experience performing Interaction Design for complex transactional interfaces
Experience designing across multiple platforms (including phone, tablet, and PC) with a focus on responsive and adaptive best practices
Strong knowledge of data visualization and experience dealing with large, complex data sets
Ability to work on cross-functional project teams and draw on multiple points of view to create effective interaction designs;
experience in the financial information industry is a strong plus
Excellent IxD and IA skills
Experience with all areas of user-centered design including persona creation, discovery research, usability research, heuristic evaluation, and workflow creation, and the ability to apply UCD and information architecture principles to every day practice
Strong client-focus with the ability to balance all project requirements and arrive at a design solution that best meets all competing needs
Ability to think strategically, collaborate productively, and problem-solve effectively
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate in meetings and in documentation form
Expert use of one or more prototyping tools; experience with Axure is a strong plus
A practical understanding of programming concepts and technologies
A portfolio of work demonstrating solid interaction design skills : wireframes, prototypes, design walkthroughs, specifications
A philosophy of what drives good user interface design and an understanding of visual design principles
Experience with developing corporate standards for user interface design
