What this job involves :

Putting safety first always

This challenging yet exciting role puts you in the driving seat of our efforts to build and maintain an environmentally sustainable, healthy and safe workplace.

You’ll provide safety support to all projects, ensuring they all meet our own established standards and that of local safety regulations.

Specifically, you’ll conduct safety review meetings with project and design team at the initial stage of the project. As well, you’ll ensure that all high-

risk activities have proper safety work method statement (SWMS). Additionally, you’ll promote workplace safety by performing site inspections, risk reports, timely safety-

related corrections, and weekly safety meetings. You’ll also constantly coordinate with the project manager and operations manager to ensure that everybody will be out of harm’s way.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertake duties as directed by the Local Operations Manager.
  • Define and delegate responsibilities for personnel tasked with HS management.
  • Undertake regular review of HS performance across all projects.
  • Advise what training and qualifications are required for all members of the Construction team to undertake their roles and responsibilities in respect of HS.
  • Advise what human, technical and equipment resources are sufficient and appropriate to meet the project’s HS objectives.
  • Monitor legislation and other HS information outlined and advise of changes to legislation, standards, codes or other guidelines.
  • Provide information, technical advice and support to all Construction teams on HS.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and provide guidance as required to employees nominated to complete designated tasks and corrective action.
  • Monitor that incidents across all projects have been properly investigated and that appropriate and timely action has been initiated to prevent recurrence.
  • Arrange for the investigation of all significant accidents / incidents and provide appropriate corrective action.
  • Disseminate statistical information regarding incidents near misses and injuries to relevant consultative forums and persons concerned in the management of PDS.
  • Maintaining an internal and external site safety audit schedule.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and audits.
  • Manage worker’s compensation reporting, liaison with rehabilitation provider and relationship with insurer.
  • Monitor the development of a Return to Work Plan is for injured employees by the Return to Work Coordinator in accordance with PDS Return to Work Program.
  • Assist project teams to review HS considerations in the selection of service providers (subcontractors and suppliers).
  • Monitor that all PDS construction projects have a documented emergency procedure which is communicated to all personnel and tested at intervals not exceeding 12 months.
  • Assist the Construction team in the ongoing development of the Project HS Risk Assessment, including assessment of all trades activities on site, to establish the level of controls and safety documentation required before work commences.
  • Promoting safety awareness

    Getting everyone on board our environment, health and safety initiatives falls on your shoulders. To do you, you need to create awareness and educate our people and stakeholders.

    You’ll achieve this through consistent sharing of success stories and best practices among project JLL teams, and also by doing regular mentoring and coaching of our safety officers and nonsafety professionals.

    Another step would be obtaining the relevant professional licenses and ensuring they stay up-to-date.

    Education and experience

    An ideal candidate holds a solid healthy, safety and environmental (HSE) background, and has at least 10 years’ experience in construction safety.

    You are also a safety license holder, with a proven track record in providing safety trainings. We also expect you to be well versed in project safety systems, processes, tools and best practices ultimately, applying such sources in the delivery of flawless projects.

    An eye for detail

    We’ll expect you to be good at identifying, and devising measures to meet, our stakeholders’ business needs and requirements.

    Having strong written and spoken communication skills are vital and, of course, you’ll be good at building team relationships that is, listening to your team and being open to suggestions and knowledge exchange and interacting effectively with business partners.
