The Community Services team in Waikiki supports individuals living with disability through community engagement. We offer individualised and person-centred supports working alongside our customers assisting and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Working as a Support Worker is extremely rewarding, you will be challenged daily but the joy and pride you will experience of watching our customers grow throughout a time when we encourage greater independence is something you will never forget.

To be a successful Support Worker you will have a vibrant personality, be supportive and have a passion for assisting others achieve their personal goals.

Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, accompanying customers to medical appointments, attending activities of their choice such as shopping, lunching and movies.

Key duties include :

  • Delivering a wide range of domestic supports within the home and community;
  • Supporting person-centred plans that identify a customer’s life goals;
  • Supporting customers in their home and to engage in community-based activities;
  • Ensuring positive behaviour support plans are followed; and
  • Administration duties and mandatory daily reports.
  • What you need

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships;
  • Experience with personal care duties is preferred but not essential;
  • A willingness to use your own private vehicle to transport customers (aligned with Activ’s motor vehicle allowance rebate).
  • Proven administration and computer literacy skills;

    We offer above award rates depending on your skills and experience. The below rates will also attract afternoon and nightshift loading and weekend rates where applicable.

    Level 1

    New to the industry with less than 6 months experience and no qualification

    Level 1.2

    Starting level for experienced staff with no qualifications

    Level 2

    2 years’ experience or more and actively working towards their Certificate III Individual Support or Employees with a Certificate III or higher will start at this level

    Level 2.2

    Employees with relevant Certificate IV or higher qualification will start at this level
