Department Description

The Cybersecurity department is a part of the Global Technology function that provides IT services to the Fidelity International business, globally.

These include the development and support of business applications that underpin our revenue, operational, compliance, finance, legal, marketing and customer service functions.

The broader organisation incorporates Infrastructure services that the firm relies on to operate on a day to day basis including data centre, networks, proximity services, security, voice, incident management and remediation.

Cybersecurity is responsible for protecting the technology environment from internal and external security threats :

  • Application Security
  • Centralised Access Management
  • Infrastructure Security
  • Security Architecture and Engineering
  • Security Application Support
  • Cyber Defence Operations (CDO)
  • The Role and Purpose

    The role is responsible for providing governance and strategy across the global Cyber Security function with specific focus on data’ and data tooling’.

    This role engages across all engineering & support teams with the ability to communicate with senior level employees as well as technical product & service owners and be able to work across all levels of the FIL enterprise

    The function will be responsible for understanding business and technology services with a view to create a strategic approach to data management and tooling adoption.

    The core focus of this activity will be based on an environment that is heavily hosted in traditional datacenters, recognising that this is a journey that leads to a wider strategic cloud enablement.

    The architect will establish data governance and standards to assure integrity, accessibility and appropriate placement of business data within the FIL ecosystem.

    The role will require the skills to facilitate dialogue and influence across the technology teams to assure platform, database and tooling selection is fit-for-purpose.

    This will extend to having a close working relationship with our security teams to drive compliance and safe-guarding measures of our critical security data.

    Furthermore, the role will need to provide a clear roadmap to streamline data from multiple sources into our security data-warehouse / data-lake with the appropriate classification and tagging for optimal use and consumption.

    Tooling therefore will be a critical element of this role assuring the capture, extraction, data-points and metrics all conform to provide technology with the real-time value needed.

    Ultimately the role will be to provide architectural leadership around Cyber Security use of data & tooling footprint identifying steps needed to enable the use of data’ to drive actionable insight’.

    The candidate will participate and drive all key decisions around Cyber Security use of data’ and tooling’ strategies across all verticals of the technology stacks to provide a long-term enablement vision that sees an ecosystem mesh across traditional, private and public cloud services.

    Responsibility

  • Work with Cyber Security and Tech Risk teams to understand todays processes
  • Map out the various data points and provide a clear understanding of classification
  • Identify and manage risk’ and exposure’ around data
  • Validate the use of data across the technology ecosystem to assure efficiency and optimisation
  • Assure business enablement against the need and use of data
  • Establish and assure the approach to optimal data extraction, management and consumption
  • Provide industry best-practice approach to data integrity management, backup / recovery and storage
  • Establish approach around optimal use of tooling’ across the ecosystem to enable data flows
  • Provide technical leadership around infrastructure platform hosting for data and tooling
  • Be the guardian for data analytics by driving and providing architectural governance
  • Educate the various technology teams on a central approach to data management
  • Work closely with stakeholders to assure data integrity and compliance
  • Enable delivery across the global teams using common platform and tools
  • Propose and engage engineering & product support teams on Proof of Concepts’ where applicable
  • Form strong working relationships with key enabling teams across the business
  • Participate in cross functional data architecture forums to establish commonality, reuse and to engender strong data architecture relations across the Fidelity organisation.

  • Your skills and experience

  • 10-13years of industry experience
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure Data Management and Tooling - market direction, real-life solutions, adoption, processes and skills
  • Delivery of large scale Infrastructure data analytics where success was achieved through steady maturity cycles
  • Use of industry standard tools (experience of Layer7 / CA tooling suite hugely advantageous)
  • Data classification models and integrations
  • Solid knowledge of using data and tools to drive actionable insight in the enterprise with hands on experience
  • API enablement experience including approach to delivering across a global setup
  • Cloud based enablement of data placement and management where success has been achieved across multi-cloud environments
  • Ability to provide governance across all sets of data types (business application, infrastructure, tooling etc)
  • DevOps and Agile working practices
  • Ability to use data to inform automation
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Ability to navigate a global organisation and form views of requirements
  • Ability to build strategies and roadmaps with globally based stakeholders
  • Broad range of technology infrastructure experience
  • Deep knowledge of datacentre architecture
  • Good working knowledge of ITIL discipline
  • Experience working in a highly regulated financial environment is preferred, with particular exposure to ISO27001 industry standards.
  • Ability to work as part of a Global team, to take the initiative, balance workload and prioritise accordingly
  • Influencing skills and ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and attain buy in and traction to technology strategies for the benefit of the Fidelity (FIL) business and ultimately the Customer
