Amazon Internet Services (P)(L) (AISPL) is hiring for a Solution Architecture leader for AWS Migration Workloads. This is a senior, high-impact leadership position, where you will lead a team of talented Solution Architects, as they work to help customers migrate and modernize their enterprise workloads (Windows, VMware, SAP, Oracle applications) on AWS, and be a public voice and face of Amazon Migration Workloads with large audiences and customer practitioners, executives and C-Suite leaders.

This is a role for the forward-thinking technologist and well-rounded business leader at heart with a functional background in transforming enterprise workloads, who possesses deep industry knowledge and a passion for evangelizing! A key focus of the role is to engage at an executive level to help shape technology strategies that deliver on business outcomes.

This person must be passionate about maintaining technical depth and breadth in their areas of expertise and in playing a highly influential role in crafting the vision and strategies for our customers and partners, internal product, marketing, business development teams and the industry at large.

They are first and foremost and organization builder.

In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions focused skills of your team.

You must enjoy learning and introducing new technologies in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new solutions.

Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role.

You will need to be adept at interacting, communicating and partnering with other teams within AWS such as services teams, field solutions architecture, marketing, business development, and professional services, as well as representing your team to executive management.

You should be passionate about helping companies / partners understand best practices for operating on AWS.

You will manage the hardest problems, efforts, and decisions; they may be emergent, novel, or unknown. You will drive the creation of mechanisms across your organization to collect feedback from customers to improve your organizations practices.

You work with senior leadership across product teams to apply your organization’s customer feedback to drive product or service changes.

You will play a key role in sourcing and attracting senior talent to join your organization. You use your extensive expertise and recognized high judgement to design the right long-term strategies and mechanisms to ensure the right outcomes for your organization and the customers that it supports.

You know how to audit to determine when and where you should dive deep.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive AWS adoption for enterprise workloads worldwide while working with a world class engineering team to ensure we have the best possible products and services for our customers.
  • Hire, on-board, train, and develop new Solutions Architects
  • Coach Solutions Architects in the skills needed to conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions so they can transfer deep technical skills to customers who are considering or using AWS
  • Step into a Solutions Architect role when required to support our customer base
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community
  • Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Leadership experience in a technical, customer-facing role in the technology industry
  • People management experience
  • Organizational scale experience
  • Knowledge of modern Cloud technologies
  • Technical depth in at least two of four primary Migration Workloads technologies (SAP, Microsoft, VMC, Oracle Applications) including architecture, applications, and implementations

  • 15+ years of technical design / implementation / consulting experience in the technology industry
  • 10+ years of experience managing diverse, high performing team
  • Commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive culture where all Amazonians and customers are able to participate fully, and enjoy respect and dignity
  • Exceptional people-management skills; able to inspire and foster the right behaviors in others through leading by example (Player / Coach)
  • Experience working with new product / service development teams
  • Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
  • Experience deploying large-scale production quality systems
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, developers, and at large events
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
  • Track record of building rapport with senior executives (e.g. CEO, CIO, CTO)
  • Motivated self-starter, proactive and action-oriented
  • Strategic problem solving and collaboration skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a matrix organization (leveraging multiple functions and teams)
  • MBA / Technical Master’s Degree
