    We are seeking for a The DataStax / Cassandra administrator , will play a major role in designing / supportingseveral key transformational project at PepsiCO.

    This role will be responsible for configuring and maintaining the overall health of multiple Cassandra clusters. It requires to be a part of a higly collaborative environment working with other skilled professionals to continuously improve database architecture and execution.

    Qualifications / Requirements

    Functional Responsibilities :

  • Install new Cassandra database releases and related software tools to evaluate in test / dev environments, eventually promote to production
  • Manage / Main Cassandra clusters in Development, QA and Production
  • Monitor availability, performance and utilization of production, QA and development Cassandra Databases, Analytics and Search server (SOLR / Spark) environments
  • Apply software patches and upgrades to server software for Cassandra Database to stay in compliance with PepsiCo security standards and performance
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical problems, including performance tuning, and debugging
  • Monitor database backups and maintain automated disaster recovery procedures
  • Plan database and server level capacity according to statistics and user requests
  • Continually improve availability, scalability, performance and automation of our services
  • Effectively communicate issues and status updates with business users, development teams and Global Support Lead.
  • Effectively handle communications across business and technology partners at varying levels across a medium to large scale enterprise.
  • Use Service Now or other similar issue tracking system to follow ITIL practices
  • Must be willing to provide off-hours support (24 x 7) on a rotational basis
  • Key Competencies Required :

  • This lead needs to be able to be self-directed with a minimum of guidance during most activities and responsibilities.
  • This role needs to take ownership of the infrastructure, technologies, and incidents to be agile in delivering requests, restoring service, and resolving problems.
  • Confidently presenting new ideas, techniques, and technologies to management is a critical skill.

  • Key Qualifications / Requirements :

  • 3+ Production experience with following highly desired : Apache Cassandra, SOLR, Spark
  • Experience with Cassandra data modeling and CQL scripting.
  • 3+ Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, etc.).
  • Expertise in database administration including configuration, implementation, data modeling, maintenance, redundancy / HA / DR, security, troubleshooting / performance tuning, upgrades, database, data and server migrations.
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems.
  • Comfortable debugging network, disk, performance bugs in complex distributed systems
  • Prior experience in large scale enterprise application support, capacity planning, optimization, re-engineering, performance fine-
  • tuning and cost optimization

  • Demonstrate accountability, independent initiatives and willingness to lead and work with teams across multiple locations and time-
  • zonesExperience working within an on-shore / off-shore support environment

  • Working knowledge of Zookeeper, Kafka, or other NoSQL Databases.
  • Thorough understanding of Security implementations (IAM, SSL, encryption, firewall, wall garden) on Database, storage, network and Cloud environments
