The primary function of the role is to lead key technology innovation initiatives for immediate / short & long term growth portfolio of Eaton.
Being subject matter expert, the Specialist will collaborate with other technology groups within Eaton and enable organic growth.
Serves as a technical lead and / or project lead in technology realization programs / projects utilizing our internal project execution processes, including Gate Reviews, Design Reviews, and Technical Reviews.
As as a subject matter expert, is responsible for the execution of milestones that are critical to the project.
The technical lead coordinates activities with other engineering resources on the team to ensure the timely completion of the project milestones.
Works as a Single point of contact for the entire project.
Also responsible for creating, executing and tracking all the milestones for the entire project.
Assigns roles and responsibilities for the project team members.Participates in brainstorming sessions contributing to the technology strategy for their department.
Contributes to the value proposition development for technical projects and programs.
Supports building business relationships by presenting ideas and projects, participating in ideation events and acquiring resources and funding needed
Lead reserch projects from conceptualization to commercialisation
Designs for DC - or AC- Coupled energy storage systems. Designs for different types of battery enclosure type solutions like cabinet type, container type, building type storage solution.
Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with Batteries / PCS / HVAC for different enclosure systems.
Design kW / MW scale battery energy storage systems (energy storage, microgrid, interconnection, communication) , including sizing the battery and battery PCS appropriate for the customer (Fleet operator etc).
Responsible for the control elements of e-Mobility charging solutions including overall control architecture, hardware selectionm programming and testing
Developing and assessing protection concepts for low voltage-low power charger (100kW 600 V DC)
Developing and assesing protection concepts for high power chargers
Develop system simulations for grid code compliance by collaborating with Simulation teams (THDi, THDu, power factor, DC ripple etc.)
Write tutorial, guidelines, test procedures, report templates for engineering and commissioning engineers.
Write technical specifications for internal and external suppliers.
Benchmark and cost evaluation.
Audit, assessment of external partners, including power electronic converter part.
Lab testing (heat-run, EMC, noise, electrical endurance), official type tests certification, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, commissioning, end-user training at a domestic and international level.
Ph.D / Masters in Electrical Engineering and Controls
Power Systems Subject Matter Expert with experience in electrical solutions in Automotive domain, hands on experience in mirco grid controller
Have clear understanding on the different parameters for design & sizing of the batteries
Should have profound knowledge on the applications of battery storage related to electrical grid
Should have deep understanding of Bi-directional inverter operation, control and integration with battery systems.
Familiarity with DC / DC converter operation, some experience in designing or modeling power conversion devices is a plus.
Should have hands-on experience working on software like MATLAB, HOMER, Dig SILENT, ETAP, PSCAD, etc.
Strong understanding of recent developments and demonstrations of smart, flexible grid technologies, network operator (utility) operating models and regulatory context of electricity transmission and distribution.
Knowledge on design & modelling of Hybrid Renewable Energy sources (especially Solar, FCEV, BESS & Wind). Experience in design of power generation mix for microgrid / hybrid power systems using hybrid energy system simulation tools (Homer Pro, Homer Grid, MATLAB).
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
Team player with highly effective interpersonal and collaboration skills
