Category Leader for Amazon pay Merchant Ads

Amazon Pay's vision is to be the most trusted, accessible, frictionless and ubiquitous payments system, preferred by millions of customers to pay in a wide range of use cases and contexts.

As part of this, we are embarking on building a merchant network that would provide our customer more avenues to experience our world class products and contribute towards making India a cashless economy.

These merchants will be able to showcase their Ads or Product offers to Amazon.in customers and get additional visibility via the Amazon Pay merchant affiliate program.

We are looking for a Category Leader to head the end to end lifecycle of this business starting from selection acquisition, price competitiveness of the offers, onsite customer experience, merchant partnerships, profitability and grow this business rapidly.

S / he will have a direct and visible impact on the long term success of the program. This role would have direct exposure to senior leaders within Amazon as well as to key partners across the various segments of offline merchants & brands.

The role will start as an individual contributor role based in Bangalore and will report to the Head of Local Finds & Merchant affiliate programs, Amazon Pay.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for delivering high quality products or services to customers. The candidate will possess strong analytical and people skills, strong process development and project management skills, strong financial acumen, high degree of ownership and integrity, a high attention to detail, excellent communication skills, an ability to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders and be a great team player.

S / he should also feel comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working in a very entrepreneurial environment.

Primary responsibilities include :

  • Developing a thorough understanding of the market segment of offline merchants, manufacturers, brands and various trends around selling.
  • Working to develop new type of Ads, coupons or Product offer types based on Amazon data, market trends and customer needs analysis, build business cases for each and taking them to market.
  • Managing selection acquisition across multiple categories, ensuring inventory, offer depth and offer attractiveness to customers, working with marketing and discovery product teams to provide a top notch customer experience
  • Collaborating with and influencing a number of internal and external stakeholders such as Business development, marketing, legal, tax, product compliance, merchants / sellers / brands to make the ad based business model successful.
  • Strong Goto Market strategy and execution skills; Designing and implementing new processes and mechanisms to help scale this business
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in product development, marketing, brand management, category management or related fields
  • Experience using metrics to drive business decisions. Proficiency in Excel and experience with other data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, deal with ambiguity, and manage changing priorities
  • Ability to operate strategically and tactically, experience making things happen in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels.
  • Extreme attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves.
  • Superior analytical skills; Strong executive presence.
  • Top tier MBA and Strategy consulting experience preferred
