Role Title : Data Modeler

  • The jobholder has to create / enhance logical data model by adhering to the group standards. This includes understanding the data requirement thereby the business requirement very clearly.
  • The jobholder will also have to do the metadata analysis which includes naming of the logical entity and attributes and assigning them a good business definition and appropriate data type and length.

    Principal Accountabilities : Key activities and decision making areas Impact on the Business / Function

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Data Modeling (conceptual / logical and physical) and tool like Erwin / IDA.
  • Understand the business requirements.
  • Understanding of banking and financial domain terminologies.
  • Complete the Business Requirement Document or Requester Spreadsheet with the metadata analysis done on the data elements requested by business.
  • Create and deliver a high quality and R2 compliant Logical data model
  • Review other Metadata analysis and logical data model
  • Support the modeling team in the process
  • Align models to GBIM or agreed model.
  • Create and deliver a high quality conceptual model, as may be required.
  • Create and deliver a high quality physical data model, as may be required.
  • Assist in Domain training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken) comfortable with detail.
  • Knowledge of tools Jira, SharePoint, Github / Jenkins is preferred.
  • Customers / Stakeholders

  • Regularly interact with stakeholders, participate in required forums and provide inputs.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to stakeholders.
  • Leadership & Teamwork

  • Assist in disseminating functional domain knowledge to associates both proactively and for project specific needs.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and transfer Principles, guidelines.
  • Work as an integral part of the team.
  • Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Work in DevOps / Agile mode.
  • Follow agreed data governance and standards.
  • Being flexible to quickly adapt / learn across various markets.
  • Ensure that agreed controls and tracking is followed.
  • Major Challenges In a rapidly evolving business environment, demands for developing new systems and enhancements to the existing systems are increasing to take advantage of potential new business lines.

    This requires knowledge of the existing systems as well as the business and a combination of an analytical and challenging mind, learning abilities and planning, managerial skills.

    The jobholder should demonstrate excellent analytical capabilities, technical skills, learning abilities, team skills and ability to work independently.

    The job holder must have the ability and commitment to deliver to tight deadlines. The jobholder must be open to absorb new technology and adapt enough to deal with a variety of disciplines (business, IT).

    Acting as part of a service providing entity, the jobholder has to work on multiple projects that may also envelop different domain areas. Role Context

  • The Job holder will need to have the ability to enable the work to successfully deliver service to agreed levels in a diverse and constantly changing technical and business environment, effectively coordinating the delivery of services involving elements delivered by other internal / external teams.
  • The Job holder will need to have a practical mind-set to progressively enable the defined data architecture discipline could be implement within the organization through value-driven initiatives
  • Management & Leadership of Regulatory, Compliance & Operational Risk

  • Ensuring strict adherence to all regulatory issues and compliance of all internal controls.
  • Implement and comply with Group Compliance Policies applicable.
  • Should deliver considering the operational risk associated with the role.
  • Implement Group Compliance Policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant compliance department. The term compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the Business has to comply.

    Observation of Internal Controls

  • Adhere to, and be able to demonstrate adherence to, internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs, GSMs, circulars) and external regulatory requirements (including Sarbanes Oxley), including the management of operational risk, security and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behavior.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications Knowledge and experience on logical / physical / conceptual data modeling concepts and tools like Erwin / IDA.

  • Understanding of banking and financial domain terminologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken) comfortable with detail.
