Job Description Sr. Compliance Associate, (Dangerous Goods-DG, Compliance Operations)

The Compliance Operations (Dangerous Goods) team’s provides extensive support on classification of Amazon products worldwide and adhering to regulatory system within the process which will keep the team compliance with the regulations (IATA, ADR, DOT, CLP, GHS, etc.

which mandates special requirements to be taken while shipping the dangerous goods in order to avoid any incidents or undeclared shipments during Storage, Handling and Transportation.

We are responsible to provide hazmat flagging for products that involve compliant classification, labeling, and packaging of hazardous products, which enables fulfillment / warehouse associates and customer aware of the risk involved and measures to handle and transship the products safely.

Job Responsibilities :

Your job responsibilities as a DG Sr.Compliance Associate may include :

Operations

  • Identification and classification of complex consumer product lines like Battery operated products, Health, and personal care, industrial and scientific & other products into their respective 9 hazard classes for storage and transportation, using SDS in compliance to Global / Country regulations IATA, GHS, CLP, ADR & 49 CFR.
  • Classification of products based on information available on Manufacturer site, available vendor documents (SDS, etc.) Components listed on product label using available tools and resources.
  • Classify complex products based on documents provided by vendor / seller which enhances business for both vendor and Amazon thereby enabling the business for both the parties.
  • Responsible for assisting associates queries related to the products based on the SOP and transport regulations IATA and ADR & SDS regulatory bodies like GHS.
  • Participate in process related training, understand, and implement the changes by conducting sessions for operational associates.
  • Meets and maintains business metrics and goals, i.e., SLA, production, and quality targets, records of day-to-day work by updating trackers
  • Initiatives

  • Executes small-scale projects or assigned components of a larger project to improve processes, using tools or reporting to achieve quality metrics or improvements
  • Identifying & implementation of improvement opportunities / automation to enhance process efficiency, quality and customer experience with measurable impact.
  • Maintain essential stakeholder communication and participate in stakeholder calls, leading and documenting the discussions.
  • Skills :

  • Proficiency in verbal & written communication;
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, MS Outlook; MS Excel proficiency is an advantage;
  • Transport Regulations Certification (IATA / ADR / IMDG) will be an added advantage.
  • Analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, ability to conceptualize and analyze information
  • Decision-making aptitudes based on given guidelines and in ambiguous contexts
  • Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree, in Chemical Engineering / Chemistry or Life Sciences discipline
  • 1-3 years’ experience in DG transport classification experience (ADR, DOT, IATA, GHS & related Regulations)
  • IATA / ADR Certification will be an added advantage
  • Experience in MSDS authoring will be an added advantage
  • Basic knowledge of GHS is preferred.
  • Basic Qualifications :
