Department Overview
The Institutional DC business comprises of Fidelity’s institutional business units in the UK and other parts of Europe and is a strategic area targeted for growth over the coming years.
Systems have been acting as the key enablers for the business in achieving their goals. There are several upcoming Iarge and complex institutional projects, e.
g. Strategy, PV Migration, and SCV which have been approved as part of the Strawman and require Java as a key skill set. As part of this drive, we need to fill an open position in India with Java skill set.
Purpose of your role
Workplace Investing needs a highly motivated Project Manager (PM) to manage projects based out of India. The successful candidate shall be proficient in all aspects of an engagement(s) using planning, monitoring and controlling processes as per the Fidelity guidelines and standards, and shall be responsible for completion of projects on time, on budget and meeting the requirements.
To this end, PM will perform a variety of tasks including coordinating all resources and stakeholders, planning and setting milestones, assigning responsibilities and monitoring, creating high performing project teams and form excellent working relationships with senior customer representatives across multiple business and system teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead one or more development projects taking the complete ownership of delivery.
Guide and mentor the team and create high performing project team
Estimate the work and plan the delivery schedule including tasks, milestones, and dependencies
Monitor the progress of a project and ensure regular publishing of status report and quality metrics
Responsible for managing the scrum process with the coordination of scrum team in Agile methodology
Responsible for facilitating daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings
Creates and share delivery forecasts at regular intervals based on the teams velocity
Track the risks and issues and work to actively resolve / mitigate
Ensure that project activities are undertaken and completed as per the Fidelity processes and standards
Suggest improvements in system development process / application areas
Provide recommendations and help direct reports / team with talent management, objective setting, career development, job rotations, fair and timely appraisals, pipeline management, training, international opportunities, and identification of high potentials, under-performers.
Manage vendor staff as needed and according to the agreed contract(s)
Create an efficient and effective organisation structure. Ensure chargeability and utilisation of staff.
Work collaboratively to optimise resource management, cross-fertilise ideas, and resolve conflicts and bottlenecks
Experience and Qualifications
BE / B-Tech / MCA
10-13 years of industry experience with exposure to complete life cycle of development & support
Essential Skills
Minimum 3 years of experience in managing Java based development and enhancement projects
Minimum 3 years of experience in delivering project in Agile-Scrum methodologies
Good understanding of scrum ceremonies, agile ways of working
Experience of managing medium, complex projects with full budgetary and delivery responsibilities
Good knowledge of industry standard project management and methodologies
Knowledge of project estimation techniques such as FP, OBA, etc.
Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence
Knowledge of project planning and tracking by using tools such as MS-Project
Knowledge of Document composition engines
Desirable Skills
Knowledge of Thunderhead
Must have worked on Core Java
Understanding of PaaS / Cloud
Understanding of Configuration Management processes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong people manager
Operates largely independently, with minimal guidance and monitoring
Appreciation and knowledge of technologies used within the project.
Good communication, influencing, negotiation skills
Ability to lead and motivate the project team
Good client relationship management skills
Proven ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment
Self-motivated, flexible, responsible, and a penchant for quality
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Willingness to work UK business hours (though occasionally)
Strong interest in Technology and its applications.
