The Customer Insights Research team in Microsoft’s Experiences + Devices (E+D) group discovers, describes, and predicts user behaviors for some of the most widely-used products in the world.

As part of this mission, we are looking for a seasoned researcher to scale customer obsession, enable informed decisions through human science, and activate user insights in our Microsoft 365 Security offerings.
Develop comprehensive research plans and drive strategic user research across product lifecycles.
Frames emerging behavior insights and user needs through a combination of new research and current insights to enable Design and Program Management to build products that users need and love.
Confidently demonstrates the ability to communicate with product team stakeholders, locally and remotely, and accurately identify critical research questions to be investigated through strong relationship management practices.
Confidently demonstrates the ability to consider cost, timeline, and philosophy to determine the appropriate research method to apply to an outstanding research question.
Partners with Data Science and Engineering to measure and ensure that new experiences create customer value at scale in production.
A successful candidate must be able to collaborate well across Microsoft and diverse stakeholders, possess strong technical research skills, have a strong aptitude and interest in creating data-driven strategy, be interested in creating an inclusive environment, and understand how good design can create great products.
An MA / MS or PhD in Psychology, HCI / HFE, HCDE, or related field is required, a PhD in the Social Sciences or HCI fields is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of research and design work experience, with strong theoretical and practical knowledge of both qualitative ethnography), and quantitative data analytics), research methodologies, and statistics.
The candidate must have a proven ability to help teams develop and drive progress on key metrics as well as have experience in creating research plans.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with, and persuade, varied audiences and argue for results (both orally and in writing) is a plus.
Experience from the technology industry and international experience are a strong plus.
Experience within the security industry preferred.
