EUSE is looking for an experienced Principal Group Engineer Manager to drive key aspects of the cross-Microsoft enterprise services transformation.

Principal Group Engineering Manager is a manager of managers(M2), encompassing multiple program deliveries, people management in a highly matrix organization, coaching , and identify and lead areas of investment in organization.

This position is responsible for providing overall leadership to the team, setting direction for the team, ensuring all commitments are met and developing strong partnerships with other groups and disciplines globally, and drive organization initiatives.

This person will lead a team of managers who are seasoned and highly passionate and talented individuals from the software engineering discipline.

We are seeking a SWE GEM for our digitally assisted workday team whose mission is to Create a highly informed, personalized and delightful workday experience with trustworthy insights, using the power of AI

and automation. We are transforming the employee experience to be the industry leader and showcase for the digital user, team and enterprise experiences.

Team is building key services for employees that will enable an environment to make our employees most productive and innovative in the world.

As part of this program we are looking at enhancing the search experience for employees, automate the task completion , build a mobile app to bring all the fragmented experience at one place .

In this role you will be responsible for right skilling the team, architecture guidance, design, development and quality assurance for the software and services.

You will partner with product management and teams across the company to lead the innovation and evolution of the solutions and services.

Looking for a proven leader with experience in both agile and traditional software methodologies and ability to guide the organization to achieve strategies.

Your ability to be the customer advocate and to focus on transforming end-to-end experience will be critical to your and the team’s success

Responsibilities

  • People Management : Lead & manage high performing team of software engineers.Provide leadership to team, including development of goals, objectives / key results and performance success criteria.
  • Manage High and low performers.Aligns team’s commitments with organizational strategic directions

  • Lead engineering of solutions across multiple teams and complex integrated ecosystems and dependencies, comprising an end-to-end solution
  • Champion modern engineering practices (Agile, Live Site, Telemetry, self-healing, backlog grooming, etc.) and help evolve customer experience and value
  • Drive service improvements through focus on automation and technical debt reduction
  • Partner with peers on system performance, capacity management and scalability to ensure sustained service stability, SLAs and Business KPIs

  • Create clarity, generate energy and deliver the impact
  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Architects and stakeholders for workforce planning, demand planning and end-to-end service design
  • Ensure teams engineering strategy is aligned with organization goals and best practices are followed
  • Deliver high-quality cloud-based solutions in an agile methodology
  • Setting up engineering strategy for the team both from technical and business front
  • Ensuring that all programs are delivered with agreed upon business value, on time and highest quality
  • Ensuring that all features embody engineering best practices, efficient, scalable architecture, elegant design and high-quality implementation
  • Leading Design, Code reviews to ensure consistently high level of design and implementation
  • Ensuring compliance with Security, Accessibility, GDPR etc. and performance criteria
  • Lead the team in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes from Microsoft and industry.
  • Use data and insights from customer and production to contribute to some technical design and implementation decisions
  • Qualifications

  • Should have a Computer Science or related degree; BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience : Total of 17+ years of demonstrated work experience in the Information Systems industry managing large size applications portfolio.
  • 10+ years of solid Design / Software engineering experience on large / complex applications using various technologies6+ years of experience in People Manager role

  • Technical Skills / Engineering Practices : Very strong software engineering design, development and testing experience.
  • Good knowledge in C#, .NET Framework or comparable programming environment, SQL, Web Development and test methodologies. Good understanding of design / architectural patterns and automation platforms.

    Experience with Agile development methodologies. Good knowledge on engineering best practices and risk management.

  • People Management Skills : Ability to motivate and influence teamAbility to coach, groom managers and senior IC talent.
  • Ability to lead, coach and provide leadership to staff on goals, objectives and performance success criteria.Ability to manage high and low performers.

    Aligns team’s commitments with organizational strategic directionEffectively utilizes resources.

  • Other skills : Excellent written and oral communication, team skillsAbility to handle ambiguity and collaborate across multiple groups and disciplinesFacilitates collaboration in a cross-group environment global software engineering teams, cross disciplines, etc.
  • Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating and decision making skillsExcellence in strategic thinking, leadership and be able to influence without authority.

    Ability to rapidly assimilate new information and techniques

  • Knowledge on Cloud technologies Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, Windows Desktop and Phone application development
  • Knowledge on data modeling, analytics, data mining and machine learning
