Job Description

  • Act as Data Privacy Head and lead the privacy compliance program for all Divisions and Novartis Busi-ness Services functions or Group functions in India / India cluster supported by Legal Head for India (in-
  • cluding Company Level Controls and Privacy policy requirements);
  • Active member of the Global Privacy Network representing all businesses in the country cluster;
  • Contact person for data privacy questions and global initiatives in respect to local data privacy;
  • Ensure, coordinate and support appropriate data privacy organization at country level supported by Country Legal Heads;
  • Implement data privacy initiatives and processes, including PIAs, risk / compliance assessments etc;
  • Collaborate and communicate efficiently with Data Privacy counterparts in the Global Privacy Network to support the implementation of the privacy program in line with local laws and business needs
  • Support the business to comply with local data protection laws and Novartis policies and guideline.
  • Support local organizations to handle inspections, audits and personal data incidents according to legal requirements and internal policies and procedures;
  • Drive and coordinate the creation of appropriate written local policies, procedures and training pro-grams;
  • Train associates in local organizations on data privacy;
  • Support local organizations to address every day compliance issues;
  • Promote open door communication between the local privacy organization and Global Privacy Network;
  • Share information and expertise with all businesses in the country;
  • Report regularly on major local developments and material issues to Head Data Privacy Country Opera-tions;
  • Interact with local data protection authorities / ensure submission of appropriate notifications;
  • Remain fully knowledgeable about privacy and data protection laws, local interpretations, developments and trends in India / India cluster and working knowledge of developments in Europe, US and other key markets.
  • Minimum requirements

    Law Degree / Master Degree / Masters in Business Administration Recognized certifications in privacy, hands on experience in working with regu-

    lations or legal issues relating data privacy, English; other local languages would be helpful Good knowledge of privacy and data protection laws.

    Results oriented, team player, and able to work well with all levels of the organization. Solid communica-tion, presentation and writing skills.

    Able to identify issues and understand busi-ness needs. Business or market experience as well as project management expe-

    rience and a legal or compliance background, are desirable. Willing to travel as needed (Privacy Network meetings). Must have 10-

    12 years of experience in area of compliance, risk management, internal audit, data privacy, data security, imparting training, etc
