We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer with expertise and passion in working with large data sets, experience bringing data from disparate data stores to programmatically identify patterns in the data, data visualization, and create business leadership friendly reports.

You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets.

The Team

The Employee Experience Analytics (EXA) Team is part of Amazon’s Human Resources organization. We are a fun and diverse global team (members in 4 different countries).

We develop listening mechanisms that capture the voice of our customers, Amazon employees. The listening mechanisms range from sophisticated structured surveys, voice calls, case management systems, and open-

ended feedback. Our goal is to empower employees to express their expectations with professional HR services and ensure a frustration-

free experience. EXA team’s work is composed of following programs and the BI Engineer would work with all team members in managing the data needs and building analytical capabilities.

1) How’s My Driving : A touch-point based survey program that enables us to capture employee perceptions of their interactions with HR

2) Analytics : Data analytics and applied statistics that help provide analysis of the captured data and develop metrics that define service health

3) Natural Language Processing : All unstructured data (text, voice calls, call notes, etc.) captured is processed using sophisticated tools to further deep dive into experience and provide anecdotal support to analytical findings

Successful candidates demonstrate an ability to :

  • Have passion for sourcing, manipulating and visualizing data
  • Apply direction and confidence to design qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Interact with senior leaders to clearly communicate analytical findings and recommendations
  • Partner with key members from technical and non-technical teams to build and deliver requirements
  • Prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Translate technical concepts into business terms
  • Advocate for working backwards from the customer
  • Bachelor's degree in Math / Statistics / Engineering / Information Systems or other quantitative discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in data modeling / advanced business analytics
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL and Python with at least 4+ years of experience in RDBMS or columnar databases.
  • Knowledge of visualization platforms like AWS QuickSight (preferred), Tableau, Microstrategy, or equivalent solutions
  • Experience building and analyzing models using various statistical tools for predictive modeling
  • Proficient in statistical programming languages such as R, SAS, Python
  • Knowledge of scripting for automation
  • Experience with AWS solutions Redshift experience a plus
  • Experience communicating and influencing across job levels is a must
  • Ability to push back, foresee potential issues, and advocate for relentless improvement
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity easily and shifting priorities
