The Supplier Payments Insights (SPI) team, within Global Commercial Services (GCS), is focused on powering the best customer experience and business growth through data, analytics and insights.

SPI team is instrumental in driving insights value proposition objectives by providing actionable data driven insights and consultative solutions to sales, account development and clients across the globe.

The incumbent will be part of the SPI growth story in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, open, fun and collaborative environment.

Purpose of the Role :

Develop, design and deliver B2B spend analytical solutions to drive deep, actionable insights to field / sales colleagues by analyzing clients’ accounts payable, or spend files as well as leveraging Amex’s integrated network data.

The key focus of the insights is to help field find opportunities for growth, drive conversation with prospects and existing clients on potential savings and process improvements opportunities to support acquisition, expansion and retention of commercial clients.

Responsibilities :

  • Using visualization tools like Tableau, support aggregated AP analytics capability for Global and International markets to help field identify growth opportunities across industries or portfolios for actionable insights.
  • Deliver spend analytics and insightful reporting, improve data integrity & management, to help the leadership as well as field team evaluate and drive business performance
  • Develop through iterative prototyping new insights solutions leveraging your data and insights generation expertise.
  • Have the prowess to envision the entire project from start to finish, prioritizing deliverables based on dependencies and business objectives and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Ensure seamless tracking of the project performance metrics and its visibility to the senior stakeholders.
  • Assist the ad-hoc analysis / critical RFP initiatives to be undertaken by the team for information visibility to the stakeholders and help them develop strategies for growth - oriented actions
  • Improve existing capabilities relevance through statistical analytical and personalization capabilities.
  • Critical Factors to Success :

  • Ability to understand the business problem / needs and be able to enable data driven actionable insights for field & clients to enable growth and retention
  • Should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a tremendous will to win
  • Strengthen solution algorithms to make them industry -leading insights products for American Express
  • through internal and external research
  • Demonstrated ability to provide insight and accurate judgment in addressing and resolving business challenges and opportunities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Past Experience :

  • 3-5 years of work experience in supplier / spend analytics, procure-to-pay or payments analytics.
  • Proficiency in conducting / leading analytical projects.
  • Knowledge of procurement, supply chain and finance operations would be an added advantage
  • Academic Background :

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree from reputed institute in commerce.
  • Master’s degree in Operations, Finance, Commerce, Statistics, Business or related fields
  • Functional Skills / Capabilities :

  • High attention to details and capable of analyzing large supplier spend datasets
  • Ability to generate effective insights through data visualization and analysis
  • Strong communication skills in order to be able to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrate teamwork with strong personal accountability, commitment and integrity.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations with minimal errors
  • Technical Skills / Capabilities :

  • Min 2 years of hands on experience on Tableau (mandatory), Power BI
  • 3+ years analytics experience using Python / SQL / Hive / SAS
  • MS-Office suite of products (Advanced Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Statistical modelling tools is a plus.
