Job Description : Field Agronomists lead delivery of extension services to clusters of Kheytis farmers. They manage teams of 2-5 Jr.
Agronomists to help 50-200 farmers in end-to-end greenhouse production, including crop planning, irrigation management, nutrient management, pest and disease control.
In short, they ensure that Kheytis farmers succeed by getting the promised yields in their greenhouses. These agronomists are offered training and development opportunities from Kheytis senior agronomy team which includes researchers and agronomists from across the world.
Over time, field agronomists can grow to manage extension services across a state or region helping thousands of small farmers become smart farmers.
Responsibilities Develop expertise of global production standards and different varieties of greenhouse crops by working closely with Kheytis senior agronomists and research teams.
Observe farmer fields, attend farmer meetings, conduct desk research and attend training programs to continuously improve understanding of agronomy.
Plan delivery of farmer extension process along with the operations team including creating field visit plans, irrigation and fertigation schedules and data capture formats.
Manage team of 2-5 junior agronomists to deliver day-to-day advisory services to farmers Supervise the field visit plans of junior agronomists and offer them ongoing guidance to ensure that farmers get accurate and timely support Execute regular training programs for farmers in the cluster Conduct field visits to farmers plots to monitor, verify and advise on production.
Communicate regularly with Kheytis senior agronomy team and incorporate their feedback into advisory being given to farmers Coordinate with operations team to ensure timely procurement of any materials required by farmers Assist in field testing of new kinds of technologies in small pilots (e.
g. new designs of greenhouse, new varieties of crops) Track day-to-day delivery of advisory in formats, systems and apps co-designed with ops team Continuously suggest customization or improvements in production practices or systems Qualifications : We are looking for professionals with 3-5 years of strong experience in greenhouse production.
Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply :
3-5 years of practical experience in polyhouse or nethouse cultivation (preferably in local climate and local conditions like those in Telangana).
Experience in providing extension to small farmers will be considered favorably. Good conceptual knowledge to go along with practical experience Bachelors Degree in agriculture field like soil science, agronomy, or horticulture HIGHLY preferred.
Masters degree will be considered favorably. Strong documentation and computer skills Language : English speaking / writing skills required.
Either Hindi or Telugu speaking skills required at a working level. Flexibility to move across project locations regionally and nationally as Kheyti grows Strong leadership and community experience Passion for social impact and solving the challenges of rural small farmers Perseverance and Patience.
Working in rural India and small farmers is not an easy task and will require strong will. We want individuals who are extremely comfortable with ambiguity and those who recognize that it will take a lot of time and effort to create lasting impact.
Full-time role in Shameerpet, Telangana (1 hour drive from Hyderabad city) Food and Accommodation will be provided by the company Negotiable based on experience and qualifications of candidate.
