Business Unit Description
NXP’s Automotive business unit offers sensor and processing technology that drives all aspects of the secure connected cars of today and the autonomous cars of tomorrow.
This vacancy is within BU Automotive, BL AMP (Automotive Microcontrollers & Processors), Engineering group. BU Automotive is one of the core businesses of NXP.

Contributing to new product definition, from concept to full specification, with full ownership of the functional safety aspects
Working with other systems engineers and design groups to establish the correct functional safety features in each sub-system or IP block to achieve the overall product goal
Requirements engineering for functional safety features to be fully process compliant, currently using the DOORs tool
Understanding all aspects of the technology, the architecture and the function of the product, to product a safety concept and context
Using the FMEDA tool to drive detailed definition to meet the pre-defined ASIL target
Preparing the product for formal assessment and ultimately final certification
Customer support, to help them use our products to achieve their system level safety goals
Contributing to the functional safety expert community within NXP to improve our processes, our product features and our marketing of these features to our customers.
Understanding of microcontroller / microprocessor architecture
Experience of automotive electronic systems, including software and hardware
Working knowledge of ISO26262 and / or IEC61508
Working experience in a requirements driven process. Preferably experience of the DOORs tool.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills (English language)
Naturally structured and diligent, self-motivated
Proven experience in engaging global, cross-functional and cross-organizational team of stakeholders into a common mission and achieving quickly tangible results
5+ years’ experience in embedded Automotive applications
5+ years working on functional safety analysis
Experience of working in a global team environment
Experience of dealing directly with customers
Desirable : Knowledge and experience with in-vehicle systems and the automotive market
Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 5 years of industry experience.
