Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future everything from underwater cables to physical data center space.

As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth.

You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership.

Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find cost effective solutions that support Google's infrastructure growth.

You'll work with specific teams to oversee vendor and partner relationships. As a Strategic Negotiator based in India, you'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, business planning, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting investments / deal recommendations to our Tech leadership.

You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs.

You'll take lead on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to Google leadership including building business case for desired investments.

You should be able to work with cross functional teams at Google including policy, legal, tax, finance, product and other engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal business and networking technical teams to identify and define strategic initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing needs.
  • Build strategic relationships with vendors, identify unique opportunities for partnership or expansion with these teams, and determine specific routes that meet commercial, technical and timing requirements.
  • Identify and manage agreements with vendors providing wavelength, Data Centres colocation services, fibers (terrestrial and undersea networks).
  • Lead partnerships in tandem with Google's legal team.
  • Build and drive Google’s strategy for technical infrastructure builds in given territories / market(s). Communicate progress internally and collaborate with network deployment & other technical teams.
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with strategic negotiations and / or business development obtaining services from high-technology providers in colocation data centres, internet transit, network transport, telecom or IT services.
  • Solid experience in networking technologies across the OSI (Open Systems Interconnect) model.
  • Ability to travel for work as required.
  • Preferred qualifications :

  • Deep understanding of domestic and global carrier networks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Strong experience with contract development and vendor management across many vendors simultaneously in technology related domains.
  • Well versed with contractual frameworks and ability to negotiate complex contracts with vendors / partners / suppliers.
