Job Description

The Category Buyer provides a cross-divisional category support to Global Category Managers IT, acts as business partner to local and regional Procurement and to selected business stakeholders.

He / she supports the respective category managers with their daily tasks by running sourcing projects / initiatives, performing end-

to-end contract management activities, development and execution of lT spend and supplier management strategies. He / she provides analytics and prepares ad-

hoc reports for the category team. He / she contributes to delivery of measurable value for Novartis, through alignment of business requirements, sourcing expertise, contract management, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity and mitigation of risk.

  • Performs IT tactical buying activities incl. negotiation
  • Performs end-to-end contract management activities
  • Supports Global Category Managers in day-to-day spend, projects and vendor management activities,
  • Supports development and execution of projects based on the Category Strategy and business activities to feed into the annual category planning
  • Supports stakeholders in matters management by providing analytics and tracking matter specific metrics,
  • Collects supplier, market, category and internal business data and information or the sub-category
  • Performs complex matter and vendor level spend analysis,
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports for customers and the category team
  • Contributes to cost-effectiveness of commercial deals, risk management of supply base and ensuring that company standards are appropriately applied.
  • Contributes to global cross sector / divisional Category Management projects.
  • Minimum requirements

    Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred, in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical fields.

    CIPS or similar qualification desirabl Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, German would be a plus

  • Min 5 to 7 years’ experience of working in a global or local procurement environment in an equivalent position / good understanding of operations and business culture of multinational company, cross-
  • cultural working international experience

  • Experience with sourcing and contracting
  • Experience in supporting clients directly
  • Analytical skills, expereince with data analytics, collecting and intrepreting data to derive meaning, identify patterns, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong sense for independence and self-drive.
  • Curious mind and high motivation to learn
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the IT area required
