Tanzu Editions engineering team ensures the various Editions of the product are shipped with optimal quality with the focus on an integrated customer experience.

What is the primary need, technical challenge, and / or problem you will be responsible for?

You will be a part of the Tanzu Editions Engineering team, working as a senior software developer with a focus on customer experience validation.

The role would involve developing automation suites to ensure end-to-end performance and functionality testing of the different editions of the product we ship.

This role requires technical and interpersonal skills to work with multiple teams. We are looking for a passionate and focused engineer who has knowledge of testing strategies, scripting languages, automation frameworks and Continuous Integration systems.

Ability to work on multiple editions of the product and contribute in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Success in the Role : What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months, you will work toward completing?

As a senior software developer, you will be expected to :

  • Recommend best practices and tools to improve automation standards and processes.
  • Build automation with efficient test coverage to verify the health of the product.
  • Contribute to the unified automation pipeline to be consumed by all the editions stakeholders.
  • Create performance and scale testing benchmarks and come up with ways to measure it.
  • What type of work will you be doing? What assignments or requirements will you be performing on a regular basis?

    On a regular basis,

  • You’ll work with different editions of the product, understand the differences, upgrade paths and dependencies.
  • You’ll spend decent amount of your time understanding how the various components of our product fit together with particular attention to the test and release automation.
  • Track new product feature and design changes and implement corresponding testing strategies by recommending new tools and standards, triage, maintain documentation, release notes, etc.
  • for the testing framework.

  • Track the activities and progress across projects, assess the impact across editions and provide recommendations and feedback with the customer experience as the main priority.
  • Participate in reviews, discussions in the slack, mailing lists and meetings.
  • Collaborate in the internal architecture planning and design meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to solve issues involving the testing automation.
  • Mentor, provide direction and guidance to junior engineers and new hires in the team.
  • Work in a distributed team across multiple geographical locations.
  • What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

    The hiring manager for this role is Priya Jayachandran, Senior Engineering Manager. Priya has recently joined VMware with the mission to build the TKG Release engineering, Core test infrastructure and Editions engineering teams in India.

    She has spent more than 14 years with Sun Microsystems and Oracle in various engineering roles prior to taking on this role.

    Priya will work with you to set the direction, provide guidance, and remove impediments. She will expect you to be autonomous, collaborative and passionate to achieve the team’s mission.
