Business Analyst Job Description

The Business Analyst will be involved in some levels of the product development cycle requirements definition, functional design and system test (User Acceptance Test UAT) as well the analysis and resolution of client support calls.

This position is part of the Finance, Risk Infrastructure and Business Solutions (FRIBS) team.

Major Responsibilities

  • Conducts high level business analysis involving complex business requirements to create technical functional specifications
  • Provides support to complex projects that span departments and functions across State Street ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of project operation
  • Liaises with technical counterparts to ensure correct technical and functional flow / design
  • Responsible for working with the senior team members and liaise with multiple business and support teams across State Street
  • Creates test cases to ensure the system processes according to functional specifications and executes tests to ensure functional requirements are met
  • Provides project implementation support and training to clients in areas of investment data management and reporting
  • Proactively supports project managers in project planning, monitoring and managing a project
  • Education, Experience and Skills

  • 5+ years business analysis and / or system development experience or any combination thereof
  • Strong domain knowledge in fixed income and money market products
  • Knowledge of product development cycle
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong management skills, particularly in respect to prioritization and execution
  • Sufficient technical aptitude
  • Experience with financial application upgrades
  • Must be able to work alone or in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with major in Accounting, Finance, Business, Computer Science, or related degree
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with project management methodology (Waterfall or Agile) is a plus
  • Experience, gained at either a major financial institution, consulting firm or software vendor, and have attained a subject matter expertise in at any of the below even in another asset classes (e.

    g.,. Fixed Income, Money Markets, Structured Products, etc.).
