Job Description

The Storage Engineer will be part of high-performance Global Compute and Collaboration (GCC) Organization. In this role, the Storage Engineer will provide storage operations and solutions support globally in cross-platform environment (Linux, AIX, Windows, EMC Unity, EMC VMAX, EMC PowerVault, Storage NetApp, VMWare, Kubernetes).

Storage Engineer will be adopting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach to drive digital transformation of Storage operations and solutions.

This incumbent will contribute to the establishment and evolution of an automation framework to enhance infrastructure service delivery.

This incumbent must be a hands-on person with strong storage concept and understanding but not limited to SAN, NAS, EMC VMAX, Zoning, CIFS and NFS, creation and exporting of NAS volumes, deduplication, replication, Snapvault relationships, ONTAP Select, security and data protection and disaster recovery.

Always keen in learning new storage technologies other than in depth technical knowledge in EMC and NetApp Storage administrations skills.

You will be responsible for

Infrastructure delivery and lead transformation initiatives involving Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Automating repetitive operations using playbooks and scripting languages such as Ansible, Python, Bash and / or PowerShell.

Improving end user experience by achieving good MTTD / R with automation and / or scripting

Engineering reliability - Manage availability, observability, latency, scalability and efficiency of Storage infrastructure

Working with Business and IT stakeholders to understand requirements

Data management protection with security tool

Driving tech refresh with project planning and Agile methodologies

Driving requirement and timing for DR / Business continuity solutions for RPO & RTO needs of critical applications; SRDF / A

Performing day to day storage administrations

Patch Management and vulnerability remediation in Storage infrastructure

Providing technical Deep Level support, act as an escalation point for junior team members

Documentation Root Cause Analysis, Support Operations Procedure, DR playbooks, Inventory

Job Qualifications

5+ years of experience as Storage Administrator supporting EMC & NetApp solutions

5+ years of experience in Storage infrastructure solutions in large corporations

Experience in storage migration and storage device tech refresh

Experience in disaster recovery

Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering

Good knowledge of Ansible, Python, Bash, and / or PowerShell scripting

Experience with containerization e.g., Docker & Kubernetes and server virtualization (VMware, KVM)

Proven knowledge in working with server platform (AIX, Linux, Windows) and networking (VLAN)

Good written and verbal communication skills

Bonus Skills :

Experience with Kubernetes solutions Rancher is a plus

Knowledge of Persistent Storage with Longhorn

Experience with Commvault Backup

Knowledge in AWS S3 Storage and backup

In addition, this position requires the following skillsets and attributes :

Ability to develop strong relationships with internal teammates and business partners

Strong communication skills required, along with an ability to manage, evaluate and prioritize workload to accommodate and align with business objectives, security concerns, and cost.

Passion for continuous learning in IT infrastructure automation technologies

Ability to create a vision and convey the message in a persuasive manner

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
