Role & Responsibilities

Provide DBA support on all aspects of databases administration including backup / recovery, replication, deployment and real time production troubleshooting responsibilities on DB2 UDB databases.

Install, configure, monitor, upgrade and maintain database in production and non-production environments.

Manage DBA Service Request queues to meet reasonable project development deadlines and negotiate on-hold requests toward prompt resolution.

Provide 24 7 on call DBA support for production environment on rotation and need basis. Provide Database deployment support for Test and Production environments.

Diagnose and address database performance issues using performance monitors and various tuning technique.

Interact with Storage and Systems administrators on Linux / Unix / VM operating systems issues related to Databases. Able to write database maintenance and automation script.

Configure and maintain Database High availability, Support data guard replication. Troubleshoot database production problems and database connectivity issues etc.

Maintain standard procedural documentation related to all aspects of operating the database platforms. Able to work on schema changes and knowledge on db2 utilities etc.

Technical Expertise

Working experience on UNIX / Linux and medium level system administration knowledge. Current knowledge on IBM DB2 product family.

Expertise in navigating the UDB / DB2 environment on Production, Testing and Development environments. Strong knowledge of SQL.

Good experience on Q-Replication, DB2 BLUE, informatics. Strong knowledge of UDB / DB2 utilities and commands. Ability to create, maintain UDB / DB2 objects.

Ability to design, implement, maintain, tune and support databases. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot common SQL CODES and error messages.

Familiarity with data modeling and design. Ability to create backup and recovery procedures. Strong ability to interact with development groups, gather requirements and manage all phases of database implementation.

Managing P1 / P2 Bridge Calls Skills, DB2 UDB Database v9 and v10., Shell Scripting. DB2 UDB Certification is added advantage.

AIX / Linux Operating systems knowledge.
